cleaning residue from seeds before mailing

i'm sending my friend some seeds, but i figure i need to clean them since they have a skunky smell to them from their budly wombs. what would be the best way to do this? i was not sure how to proceed since i dont want to affect their viability negatively, but also dont want them to be easy to sniff out in the mail.

I would guess just a rinse of some water and no chemical cleaners. Then just package them right b4 you mail. I don't reccomend doing this at all tho. You could get into trouble..

be sure to have all plant material off the seed {ie} the pod cover so all ya have is the seed. maybe allow to air out a few days in open dark place, seed do need to cure some before use 2wk is peachy. i like a card like b-day holiday type card and a bubble envolope that card fits into, this should protect seed. in the us mail it on monday morning from cali to fla 4days cali to ny 4days mid america 3days

i wouldn't rinse them with water unless they're ready for immediate planting. if you want to get serious about it, just gently wipe them off with dry paper towels making sure all of the pods fall off and wrap a few layers of plastic then tape it all up...
or what i do is make sure the seeds are at least a couple months old and put them into plastic drink straws cut to fit the envelope and tape up the ends. fold a few pieces of paper around the straws and place in a padded envelope and send it via priority mail. 2 days later your friend will be very happy!
