Well...HEY! Good news, the walls are tumbling down.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/05/portland-maine-marijuana_n_4221919.html

Portland, Maine, voters on Tuesday approved legalizing recreational marijuana for residents 21 and older. The measure, Question 1, passed with about 70 percent of the vote, making Portland the first East Coast city to legalize recreational pot.

Adult residents of Portland -- Maine's largest city -- may possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana under the referendum. The new measure does not permit the recreational purchase or sale of marijuana, nor does it permit its use in public spaces like parks.

"Most Portlanders, like most Americans, are fed up with our nation's failed marijuana prohibition laws," said David Boyer of the Marijuana Policy Project, a marijuana advocacy group. "We applaud Portland voters for adopting a smarter marijuana policy, and we look forward to working with city officials to ensure it is implemented."

This is great to hear! Nice to see it doesn't need to be whole states to change things. Will law enforcement working at state and federal levels ignore these new measures? I hope they would respect the will of the people. Either way this is progress, and the prohibition of Cannabis appears to be in its dying days.

When the pressure was really put on alcohol prohibition... it fell in what, less than 5 years?

I don't see cannabis prohibition lasting even that long. Sure... there will be dry areas... lol

Keep it Clean! :D

I lost that urge over 5 years ago.

If you want grass and women, you can find that here and save $1,000's in plane tickets. Not to mention hotel, expensive grass, food, etc.

Anything you can find Over there, you can find here. Anything. The good, the bad and the ugly.

Yeah, they're rolling out the new roaring 20's, right on schedule. Keep them smoking, keep them drinking.

Freedom is good, but I shouldn't need anyone's permission anyway. So I'm lukewarm on being happy and thankful. Groveling is kind of disgusting and beneath me, even if that groveling is happiness.

A city here just decriminalized for an ounce. I think we're up to 10 plus decriminalized cities. They even did a transfer deal which "allows" people to transfer green products.

Eating and drinking it is safe, but smoking in any way really isn't. So here we can smoke it, but not drink or eat it.

Want to believe smoking grass is safe? Clean a bong or pipe some time and get back to me.

Don't get me wrong, I've been a smoker for years, and it'll kill me. But I'm not gonna leave my head up my ass. Eat it. Grow your own. Don't ask for no stinking permission.
