Alot of the auto grow I see posted have some really nice looking nuggs yet fluffy and airy. I am growing some jems now and my buds are also airy. Real nice just real fluff.

So whats the deal is there a nice chunky af?

Id say there is, Both my Purple Mazars and Himalyan Blue Diesel had really compact nuggs. Good potency and taste as well.. In my opinion Autos arent any fluffier the regular strains, think it all comes down to how they are grown. Some go flyffy from genes of course but in many cases its just using a shitty light system or bad nutes/medium.

Auto Hindu Kush has two pheno's an airy bud and then a real nice tight bud.The nug pheno had green pistals.Yield was about the same but airy bud has more manicure time.I vacuum them in a ziplock bag and tighten up the nugs before jarring.

i had diseal ryders n low 2 out in the sun in coco with good nutes, kinda fluffy buds and by no means as fluffy as some of the autos ive seen on here..

Idk. Maybe I have not feed them enough. I am using flora nova so its not from shit nutes. Maybe the last week or so the girls will bulk up. The smoke is hella nice even quick dried. Seen my girls today and they are still bulking up with not much time to go.

Too many years of smoking shit brick weed got my brain train to wanting all nuggs to be tight. F commercial.

The wattage you are using has alot to do with it. This was grown under a 600. I had alot of air bud issues until i finally went with a proper light.

This nug weighed some thing like 3.2, well 2.7 after i pulled out a doobie worth. This is snowryder. My last jem had good density as well.. While the jem i left under the 400mh had less mass to the nugs for sure. Also pheno determined but you get the picture.

this is correct it has a huge to do with light. once they get the right amount of light they'll dense up. Also genetics play a huge role in this too. So there are tons of things that can impact this but light has to be the biggest i think.

The jem is a nice fat pheno i think or at least all the ones i have seen. here is mine at harvest that was done under a 250watt HPS

last year growing outside in a terrible summer i got airy buds too but this year with the extra sun they are looking much better so i guess the more light the better!

My first grow with auto's (LR#2) was pretty airy, but after going to easy ryder, the buds were a lot better..

Same lighting, but was more aggressive with nutes. The strain may have been a difference as well.

Grown outdoors, the biggest, tightest buds I've gotten have been from Mi5. Next was Diesel Ryder. Just about every auto strain I've grown, about 10 at this point, has shown phenos with airy buds and ones with tighter ones. My observation is it depends on if the pheno leans toward indica or sativa.

I just ran a seed run of 6 or so S60s under a 1k at about 16 hours a couple months back and they weren't airy at all and I imagine would have turned out very nice if ran as sensi.. I ran at the same time 2 outdoors under really poor lighting conditions and while the yield was lacking due to my improper location, the buds weren't airy at all, especially considering the completely lack of direct sunlight (maybe 2 hours tops)..

What I did find pretty big variation in was in height.. Under identical conditions in same container sizes I had anywhere from 10" to 20"ish in height.. and anywhere in between.. Definitely quite a few phenos but none of them seemed to have an airy structure..
