Ok so it wasn't roid rage ..... so the guy was just ****ed in the head then?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Benoit
Toxicology reports released on July 17, 2007 revealed that at their time of death, Nancy Benoit had three different drugs in her system; Xanax, hydrocodone, and hydromorphone, all of which were found at the therapeutic, rather than toxic, levels.

Daniel Benoit was found to have Xanax in his system, which led the chief medical examiner, Kris Sperry to believe that he was sedated before he was murdered.

Chris Benoit was found to have Xanax as well as hydrocodone in his system. It was also revealed that the in his body was an elevated level of testosterone, which is caused by synthetic testosterone and was the only steroid in his system. The chief medical examiner has considered this a mystery, but attributed it to Benoit possibly being treated for a testosterone deficiency caused by previous steroid abuse.

The examiner also ruled that the drug GHB was not present in any of the three bodies, and that there was no indication that anything in Chris's body contributed to his violent behavior that led to his death as well as his wife and son's, concluding that there was no "roid rage" involved.

dude i think an 'elevated level of testosterone' belies steroid use...if synthetic testosterone isn't a steroid then i don't know what is...

Benoit was definitely a heavy steroid user, take one look at the man and its obvious. I have seen old videos and photos from the late 80s in Calgary when he was getting started and he was a skinny little kid, well muscled and defined but totally unlike the huge thick mass of muscle he became a couple of years later.

i thought he was a steroid user but also thought he had been off them for quite a while and was taking synthetic testosterone because of having lower-than-normal testosterone levels due to past steroid abuse. Think thats how it read in that aforementioned CNN article today anyway

He had slimmed down somewhat, but still had an unnatural look, of course there are other things than just anabolic steroids that you can take to bulk up.

This is the part that confuses me..

"It was also revealed that the in his body was an elevated level of testosterone"

The what?? the what in his body??

Wikipedia can be randomly edited by any person who wishes to do so. It's not exactly a reliable source.

Benoit’s body contained 10 times the normal level of testosterone, as well as amounts of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax and the painkiller hydrocodone, authorities said.

The testosterone, a synthetic version of the primary male sex hormone, is considered an anabolic steroid. The state’s top medical examiner said it appeared to have been injected shortly before Benoit died.

Wikipedia will say anything you want it to say, hardly a reliable source for information.

Bottom line is this.... Benoit was a roid user and a roid abuser. He was getting an 11 month supply of roids every 4 weeks. So he was using ( or perhaps selling) a 10 year supply of roids in a years time.

There were elevated levels of testosterone in his system , thats a fact. More than likely he abused roids in his early career so much that it runied his testicles. Your nuts produce testosterone , when you are injecting testosterone your nuts stop working since they dont need to produce it any longer. After years of injecting your nuts shut down and stop producing testosterone and you need to inject roids to compensate for your nuts no longer working.

The guy was a roid freak, look at him. He dont have a neck and he is like what 5'9 and 220 pounds and 40 years old. I dont care how much you work out, you aint gonna get his size without roids. Not with a low body fat level like he did and wrestling every other night.

Here is the thing. Wrestlers work and travel over 250 days a year. Shit , Hulk Hogan said one year he wrestled over 400 times, thats more than one a day. Now think that these guys are supposed to show up in good shape and impress the crowds. When you work out your body needs 48-72 hours to recuperate, your muscles need to heal. Well its impossible to work out , then wrestle, then travel then work out over 250 days a year without roids. Their bodies get beat up night after night in the ring, plus they have to work out to stay in shape.

Seriously, if it werent for steroids the WWE would have went out of business a long time ago. Roids is what keeps that show running

You got a hard time believing that , then you truly are niave

What they don't say is after abusing steroids for years he would go crazy without the steroids. My guess is the synthetic steroids were being used to try and wean him off the heavy stuff. He wouldn't be the first person to snap after stopping them. Mild users can go into rages after being without them, imagine what his brain was doing.....

Yeah but to wean on off of a substance they should reduce the amount of substance given. Giving someone 11 months worht of roids every 4 weeks is hardly weaning someone off of roids. More like giving them what they ask for. Plus who knows if he was using human growth hormone which alot of m use. Bodybuilders use HGH more than roids since the side effects arent as bad they assume, and the testing for HGH sucks, hard to detect HGH . Judging by the looks of Benoits face structure and his big old waist line, it looks like he was on HGH as well. HGH will make your bones in face get bigger and your internal organs get large as well. thats why bodybuilders when not flexing have big old stomachs. they organs are enlarged due to HGH.

Benoit was a low life roid user that doped up his family and killled them.

I wonder what this medical examiners connections to the pharmaceutical industry are.

That might make for some interesting reading.

I don't know what the deal is with all of this, but the what I read on it on the AP and Slate seems pretty clear he was using something.

Here's what Slate has to say:

Slate said:
A wrestler who killed his wife, his son, and himself had a testosterone level 10 times higher than normal. He is at least the 27th pro wrestler to have died at age 45 or younger in the last decade. A medical exam indicates he had injected himself with synthetic testosterone. Examiner's caveat: "An elevation of this ratio does not necessarily translate to something abnormal in a person's behavior." Cynical translation: But it sure helps. Wrestling industry's spin: Synthetic testosterone isn't illegal, and we never caught him using steroids. Rebuttal: Exactly, you useless scumbags.
