Patience Patience Patience Patience Patience

and more Patience. :peacock:

White Widow has the acknowledged characteristic of benefiting from leaving it to continue blooming for Weeks 9 and 10. Packs on the resin during this time (Most of my experience was with Grimm White Widow about 10 years ago.)

I think this is a common trait.

Obviously there are plants where you look and think, "Damn, she is ready to go" after the end of the 7th week. BOG Bubblegum and I think C99 have this characteristic.

But for most plants, I like to let them continue packing on the resin, especially if there are fresh pistils growing (= a weight increase.)

ON THE OTHER HAND ... If you gotta harvest, you gotta harvest. :tiphat: Nothing wrong with that.

Part of the gardener duties when going for the longer flowering times is inspecting for mold and bananas.

Those bananas can be one of the blessings associated with 'patient' flowering. I would say that after 49 days, a newly sprouted banana is a sign of a plant that wants to survive, not a herm ... IMHO.

So if you get more resin, and potential pollen for another wonderful plant - that could be a Win-Win.

how are you coming to the conclusion that its ready to for harvest?

dont mind what it says on the pack. it can go a few weeks over the recommended time.

are you checking the trichs with a magnifying glass?

one of my plants has quite a few orange hairs due to stress id say but it still has while to go yet

thanks very much for your reply there roadrash although the buds are 3 quarters orange i notice the top of the buds are spouting more white hairs. but are going into a point rather than more of a round shape. so must be putting on more weight. with nine days to go should i chop in nine days time. 8 weeks flowering i read about royal purple kush. or should i risk a bit longer.

Hey niceguy44
Don't go off the color of the hairs to judge if the plant is ready.
To get it right you really need to use a mag glass or jewelers loop.
You want to look at the color of the trichomes.
You want most of them to be cloudy.
I will usually try and harvest when about 70-80% of them are cloudy.
Clear is immature
Amber is getting too ripe.
Cloudy is just perfect.

grab a 60-100x microscope and pull when its done. its personal pref.. clear cloudy and amber.. go research trichome color and ripeness. and pull when you are where u want that smoke to do to you lol. if u want a more couch lock effect let it go longer...

but patience is key with growing.. a few extra weeks can make such a huge difference.

Yep Joint is correct.
I usually chop mine at 70-80% cloudy.
You chop when it fits your preference.

.....and patience, patience, patience will be rewarded.

Use one of these to evaluate trichome color-

I harvest when nearly all I see are cloudy w/ some still clear. Almost all the hairs will have turned darker, as well. Other people like to let them go a little longer until they see some amber for max yield. I've read that some rare strains don't amber, but I don't know that for a fact.

Maturation time will vary according to your situation, with seedmakers' claims tending toward the early end of the best harvest window.

better to let them go over time then chop them erly. you are just ruining the final product by chopping it erly.

thats how i look at it :)

have a good one

if this is the "cut" Royal kush, you're looking at a true 9-10 week finish for full calyx ripening. you're shortchanging yourself if you can't hold yourself till then.

if it's a seed plant i can't help

hold on... it hasn't reached peak potential yet. if anything when you think it looks ready, give it another week. trust me the potency will be banging and you will get a lil extra weight.

I'd wait, but you could take a few buds now, and compare the two harvest times after cure. Good luck. -granger
