choosing fluorescent or CFL for cloning / seedlings /moms room

hi folks
i am going to buy 3' X 3' tent for keeping 7-8 moms under vegging all the time and making my clones and vegging my seedlings
(i have 5' X 5' sqft flowering room already )

i will buy 250 or 400
watt MH lamp some day,but now i should buy Fluorescent (or CFL,i dont know ) for the vegging moms and clones.
i know only thing that i should buy 6500k
Fluorescent.
that is all..

but i dont know how many
Fluorescents and how many watts should i buy for keeping 7-8 moms at vegging stage all the time and rooting and growing my new clones..
the brand is important ?

in addition, should i buy T5 or T8 and which is better ?i dont know anything about
Fluorescents..

In addition, can i buy CFLs instead of fluorescent lamps ?CFLs are very very cheaper than T5/T8 fluorescent lamps ..

what is your opinions ?

i will keep my seedling under these
Fluorescents for first 10-15 days untill they would be rooted and after 10-15 days, they will go under 600 watt hps to keep on vegging..

i read '' the powerful lamp is not good for rooting clones and new seedlings .the best option is flouro for them ''

therefore,
even if i have got a mh ,i will also have to buy flouro or CFL for young plants.
if i havent got Mh,i will have to buy flouro or CFL for young plants.

as the result, flouro or CFL must be bought for rooting clones and seedlings to achieve the best result.

i need your helps,thanks

Man Charles, I'm sitting here asking myself the same question basically... I wanna grow some mama's. So peoples, how many watts per square foot to veg under cfl's?

thaaaanks

Go with CFL's bro, they are cheaper and easier to find and I think they are more convenient cuz you can fit them in any space you want unlike 2ft and 2ft T5's and so you know T5's are better than T8's ... BUT GO CFL!!! I have a 4ft 54w T5 and my moms and clones didn't grow as fast until I added the 26w daylight cfl's I had in my old mom cab so I put those in there and BOOM I got my growth going faster. I'm sure if you pack in a bunch of T5's you'd get the same result but like I said it's easier to get and replace CFL's and they're sold almost everywhere...

Im in the same situation. I am under a 400 mh right now with my beans I popped, their 2 and a half weeks old and seem to be doing fine. I do know when I take cuttings Im going to go under a CFL or T5 and by the way I hear the T5 is the best bro. Its newer technology from what I hear.
Anyways what kinda CFL setup would be best to go with for the rooting clones, and should the mothers go under a nice T5? I plan on keeping a good 4 moms at least but I may end up having more. Is there 1 T5 I would be able to keep them healthy and new growth under....what would be a good size for the moms.
I see all kinds of CFL's....ones that are 80 bucks a light bulb...which must be as powerful as a ballast...lol...but I am just not sure what I should be using to get the clones to root like I want. I am building a aero cloner and though about getting a heating lamp and putting a cfl bulb in that for its source of light, but I need to know what the best size CFL would be to use. Should It have a reflector, I saw a cfl setup in the grow magazine under a reflector.
Anyways thanks for any input....Im new to keeping my own moms, and thats why I need some advice on what to put the moms under and what to put the clones under....which Im sure a CFL will be the best for the clones unless someone has a different opinion? All suggestions are very much appreciated....thanks for the help!

If its all you can afford.........go with the CFLs. The highest wattage you can find and afford. Try to get them in the 6500k range (Daylight). Get a few Y type screw in adapters and double up the lamps. This will work for a while but once your plants get bushy and taller the light will not penatrate well enough to get good growth in the lower branches. you can supplement that by adding lower lights. Better yet........By then you might be able to upgrade to a 400 watt MH.

This pertains to mothers NOT clones. Clones can get away with little light. In fact, little light is better than bright light for cloning.

So is it best to go with a T5? Im not worried about money, I just wanna know what works the best! So if I wanted to keep my mothers growing nice for cloning which will be done every 8 weeks, should I grab a T5, and I plan on keeping anywhere between 4 and 8 so it would be nice to have the room to always add more, so what would the best kind of T5 to go with. It seems most are just over 2 ft long and the part Im not sure about is how many bulbs to run. I also am going to need something for the 16-20 clones I will take in the home made easy cloner I got.....so would getting one of those seed/clone starter t5s most the grow shops be enough, or would something else give them better growth? The clone/seed t5 starter kit has a little bar to raise the light up and down. Nice for clones it seems.....but for moms what would be best?

Explain the room you'll be growing in.

I got your message on my profile. I'll answer it when I know more about the room. But I will say.......For that many mothers T-5s won't cut it.

Check my link below to see what I got for 8 to 10 mothers.

Ok right now for a veg room I have a 4x4 @8ft tall basically a bunch of full sheets of plywood, put together quite nice. I didnt build it, but its wired for electrical and all. Anyways I have a 400 watt m/h in it right now....which I was planning on using to veg my clones. Right now though I have some sprouted beans in there because Im just starting back out. Anyways I was planning on getting a tent strictly for mothers which I think a 4x4 will be enough.....and I wanna keep them healthy as can be because every 8 or 9 weeks I will be taking cuts from them. Once these are big enough to take cuts from, Im going to take cuts and flower the seeded mommas and grow out the cuts as new mothers also to see which Phenos are best. I wanted to start the new mothers in their new 4x4 momma room, and I wanna place for clones...I dont know if theres a tent with some kinda shelf.....that would be cool but I know theres the smaller tents for clones but something could be built for less than that it seems. Im working with a limited amount of space, but anyways I got the 2 light growlab, its the GL145L model. I got 2 1ks im flowering with. Anyways thats all I got......a growlab gl145l which is a 2 light flower chamber, and a 4x4 veg chamber. Thats why I wanted to know what the best way to keep mommas is because I am going to set something up to keep at least 4 of them. I think 4 is best. What would be the most efficient way to keep them? Thanks!
