choice of screen for scrog question

i was just wondering what kind of chicken wire you should use for a scrog ...will 1inch work or does it have to be a larger gauge....i am using a screen i made with nylon rope and the spacing is about 2.5inches by2.5iches roughly per square.?????

I find "livestock fence" to be far superior to "chiken wire" on scrogs.

"chiken wire" can tear foilage too easy, and is hard as fuk to train plants in unless u cut holes bigger....but that causes more sharp edges and crap.

heres a cpl. pics of my scrogs/ screen:

this one is same screen as in pic 3 but folded in half and bent over plants in my OD trashcan.

see pic 3 (for the before)

this is just a nice square piece...works perfect, and is nice and smooth....easy to use.

nice that looks awesome....im using some nylon rope and my squares are almost exactly the same in spacing as what your using....that makes me feel better, thanks man i apreciate our input, any recomendations on a good bloom boost fert to use in soil during budding.???

Yeah I have tried the bought stuff and have found that it is too sharp. Not really made for plants to be rubbing up against them. Although after looking at those pics makes me feel comfortable creating my own. Nice advice!

i use 50 lb test fishing line.
I make the frame and insert a small screw in each place i need a string(about every 2 inches or so) and then weave the fishing line back and forth until my screen is made.I dont worry about interleaving the lines in and out. I just let them sit on one another. The line is so strong that it doesnt matter if you make a tradisional type screen thats interleaved.
Once harvest time comes ...I just get out the scissors and cut the strings along one side and BAM...pull it off the plant and harvest.
Easy ,cheap(about $1.50 per 250 yards at wallyworld), and that line is strong as hell. And it comes in real handy for lots of things in your growroom
Hope this helps someone.

I just went to an area where they were building new homes with stucco finishes and mooched some of the mesh they put on prior to applying the stucco, it is a decent gauge wire and stands up well. Being free was a plus for it as well. . .

The brightly colored string usually found in the electrical section works great, especially at harvest time... easy to find !

Scrog string squares really dont need to be any smaller than 3''x3"....gives ya plenty of room to get your hand in..and still gives all the support needed.

Chicken wire sucks...waaay too small, too sharp and too inclined to become buried in a plant.
