Chocolate in the cannabis world

OK so I'm running HSO's Chocolate Mint OG at the moment and had a nice long run with 00 seeds Chocolate Kush last year.
The CK was a hazey lemon lime tasting bud.

Is chocolate in the cannabis world always taste like lemon & lime?
I get no real tones of chocolate off it like a hashier plant would a la 'earthy'.
I had the chance to get some Chocolope, but passed on a trip out West.

I feel like I'm going crazy, so please tell me I am.

i'm using choco chiba (South American landrace w/heavy cocoa terps) and eskobars chocolate rain fem in a cross right now. hope to get something that is real deal chocolate.

Only true chocolate strain i had was from jamaicans. Chocolate thai. Tastes like chocolate. Was trippy and euphoric. Nothing was ever similar. Chocolope no. Although i love chocolope haha...

This thread led me to look into the terpenes behind the chocolate expression in Cannabis.. Appears to be related to the Mercaptan-based terpenes

Maybe I'm wrong?
It would be nice if someone with more terpene-expression knowledge could chime in and tell me if I'm on the right/wrong track..

I'm highly interested in the chocolate/mocha/coffee/earthy/soil terpenes
Anyone that could narrow it down for me, just off the top of their noggin?

like idiit said try some bubba kush. if you can get it pre98 smells like chocolate/coffee..


you could also try chocolope if you lucky you can find some chocolate phenos in there...

I'm not really looking for a chocolate pheno of any strain, but always appreciate feedback being a connoisseur.
It's been confusing me for about a year now.

I'm the dude who wants to smell it no matter what the funk is.
All in all......the more it tastes like rotten garbage.......the more I like it.

Grew THSeed’s Chocolate Chunk around ’03. Had a couple girls that really did have a bittersweet chocolate flavor. No lemon or lime presence.

That’s my only experience growing something with the chocolate flavor. Have some Thai-Tanic in the fridge that’s supposed to have it... we’ll see.

seeing as CRISPR gene editing is now "within reach of high school students" i wonder how long it'll be before we see some GM cannabis? although... im thinking high school students would be too obedient to do that ... teenagers don't write viruses do they? lol
