Chimney exhaust?

Well as for right now my grow is going to happen in my closet. I was wondering if anyone knew if the 4" pipe that goes out of my furnace goes to the chimney, there is a chimney right behind that brick wall so my guess would be yes, but i just want to make sure. Also what is the purpose of that pipe?

I would be careful about venting into the chimney if the furnace is also venting into it.
If the positive pressure inside the chimney gets too large you might risk reversing the airstream in the furnace - resulting in gassing your whole house with carbon monoxide.

It's true. I've seen it in several grow houses and one actually has small explosions from time to time.

You have a chimney on a fireplace and a flue for venting. Is the W Heater/Furnace flue connected to a block/brick flue or a fireplace chimney?

If it is a flue then you are in luck, it would make sense to run it through the brick/block at a 30 degree angle or there-abouts, this will direct the fan exhaust up and out. Install it above the W Heater/Furnace pipe and caulk thoroughly with a heat resistant sealant.

By the way, making the 30 degree cutout in the block might be hard to do without the right tools and if the hole winds up to large, get a bag of mortar mix from Lowes, mix it rather dry and cold pack in and around the raggedy hole. Ask them for a brush on bonding agent to ensure a tight bond and apply to the block prior to mortaring.

well right now im growing in this little closet thing just to get my seeds started so i can easily water them without having to go to far. I have a pit in my garage and i think im going to shoot for a stadium setup in there as there is already everything i need there, power and a high power vent that im sure i can just rig up to work a little less becasue of the noise it makes.
