Chihuahua Survives Owl Attack

"CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. — An owl attack has left a 4-pound Chihuahua with a healthy fear of the dark.
The attack happened when Chico the Chihuahua was out for a walk with his owner George Kalomiris in the Chicago suburb of Crystal Lake last week. Kalomiris says they were walking down the street when a great horned owl swooped down and tried to fly away with the 3-year-old dog.
Kalomiris says he kept a firm grip on Chico's leash as the bird dragged the dog across the sidewalk, and he managed to scare the owl away.
Chico was treated for a puncture wound caused by the owl's talons, and his owner says he's still traumatized. Kalomiris says the dog now refuses to go outside at night."

Here's a pic of Chico, his story is a little different.
He says that Owl is lucky his owner pulled him off of it, as he was just about to break a paw off in that owls ass.

Chico just needed another minute or so to get that situation under control, eh? hahahahaha Better luck next time, killah.

Driving past an office park down the street the other day and saw what at first appeared to be a cat stranded on a roof. I pulled into the lot and saw it was a horned owl sitting on the corner of the building. There was another perched on the opposite corner and one sitting above the center doors, each spaced about 30' or so from the next.

that poor little cat!
owl almost had an easy meal.

just realized that's a dog?
that's a girls dog, not a real dog.
my dogs barely fit in my truck, this one would fit in a purse, LOL

I saw an owl take a rabbit or something once in my yard, it was awesome. They used to sing me to sleep with the coyotes, I miss that. Surprised the dog survived because the talons on any bird of prey will do some damage.

I couldn't have a dog like that up here in the country and when any of my dogs are just puppies they get let outside on leash only until they get to 15 pounds or so. Day or night we have owls, hawks, eagles, ravens, osprey; we have feral cat, bobcat, mountain lion, fox, coyote, wolf and bear.......

when I let my adult dogs outside I stay with them and I keep my pistol on my side because it would be better to need it and have it in hand than to need it and have it inside. 25 or 30 below zero? I'm outside with them for every second of it.

hahaha i always hear that in my head when I see or hear chihuahua

in bc coyotes were stalking people walking small dogs... they were urging people to keep watch and keep your "tea cup" dogs close.

I think that owl just wanted to take Chico out for a walk cause Chico wouldn't make much of a meal when they're that small there a little tough and not much meat.
Now a nice say two year old Lab that would be delicious. Anything past two years old and the meat gets a little ropey.
Don't get me started on Cat meat.
