Chem D x C99 and Querkle

This is my first diary. This my third run ever and I am starting from seed for the second time. I love doing this but it sucks not being able to keep certain phenos. I do not have the ability to keep clones or mothers at this point in time.

I use a 3x3 tent for flowering and popping seeds. I pop seeds with CFL, Veg with a 400mh and Flower with a 600hps. I have a 4x12 phresh filter pulling through 4inch inline vortex fan. I am popping five (5) Chem D x C99 from ICMag member Mooch775 and also five (5) Querkle.

I'll start off with a little nugporn from my last grow:

NOW! I will move onto my baby pics. All ten (10) seeds are about three days above soil give or take.

I will be updating as things get interesting. This is my first grow journal so any input is welcome. I will be here to answer questions and to take advice/suggestions. I am new to this but with some help and encouragement from other members I have decided to take the plunge and start the show!

Just switched out the cfl for the 400 mh. It's sitting about 6 inches above the tops of the seedlings. Been about 6 hrs and they seem to be lovin it.

Right on bro, looks like your off to a great start... Everyone is looking good so far, but I'd be careful having that non air cooled hid so close.

I don't see any ventilation in that tent, other than the door. Is it your plan to leave the tent opened up until some later date when you will add your exhaust system?

good start, move that light up off of them though, 6 inches is way too close for a hid, esp a 400, esp for seedlings that young... id have it at least a foot above, prob more.... honestly i wouldnt have put the hid on them until they had about 3-4 sets of real leaves, then have it a foot or so above them...

I have a 4inch vortex inline pulling through a 4x12 phresh filter. nothing escapes that beast!

also, when i went down there last night most of them were shooting out white roots. so i quickly put them in solo cups, labeled of course

i will be keeping the seedlings about 12-14 inches below the 400mh. i want them to soak in the sun but i dont want them to stretch too much, which i why i had the HID so close..

either way, business as usual things are looking good though! thanks for following everyone. i plan on keeping a very thorough log with good pics. should produce some KILLA smoke too...nothing like enjoying the fruits of your labors!

oh, and im not currently running the fan right now. its cold in the basement so i am not worried about air cooling..also, i have a little clip on fan moving air around so they are getting plenty of fresh air

I moved the HID roughly 13 inches or so above the babies. Do you think that will be okay? Temps are sitting around 70f

They are on day 8 of placing them in plugs. They are doing well. Still little babies. Prolly take pics once a week to make it easy. Woot woot!! I love growing the herb

okay. i may have done some damage with the 400...they dont all look to happy and some of my seedlings are have some brown tinted leaves...the pics show it up but in person you can see it better....maybe the FFOF is too hot for the seedlings? lumen overkill? any suggestions?

i just misted them with a spray bottle...the brown is a little more evident here

i have moved the 400 prolly close to 20inches above

the chem d x c99 seem to be moving faster than the querkles...i read that the querkles are very slow veggers.

any input on my seedlings? do you think i should throw the CFL back in and take the 400 out? will it bother them switching lights in and out?

I have the 400 to the top of the tent. Prolly.....three feet above. They are much happier. They all got a nice drink Roots shooting all over in the cups. I love watching cannabis grow. Proud father

You got it...keep that 400 up high and don't cater too much to the seedlings. Personally...I'd keep them under the CFL for a few weeks and save money on your light bill (unless you are using the 400 to heat the tent?). CFLs work great for seedling stages. That burn you are seeing may well be from having the MH light too close. I'd also start them in something other than Fox Farm..like a starter mix.

The genetics should be fun dude....can't really go wrong with those imo. Cool man....get them going

Hey Budman, nice looking grow so far. I would say that little burn on your seedling is definitely from the ocean forest. It will grow out of it, just don't give it anything but water for a couple weeks. I don't use that stuff for my seedlings anymore.
The Querkle can be a slow vegger all depends on what pheno ya get, get one urkle dom and ya it's gonna be slow. As for the 400 it should be fine, I veg with one, overkill yeah a little but it's not too much.

Thanks brother. I am using the 400 for heating the tent. It's been in the teens where I am
