Cheese X Yumboldt

I've just been given a clone of this Cheese X Yumboldt cross - I was told it's been doing the rounds with good reports - and I rarely turn down a free clone! Don't know if this is home-made or wider distribution, so haven't a clue how it will perform. I've never grown either strain, though I do have some original Skunk#1s, but they're not cheesy.

Looks pretty sativa to me - anyone any ideas what this might do? :chin:

sounds like a great place to start to keep the Cheese stinky and in seed form.. I'm heard that yumboldt can be one of the stinkiest seed strains avaliable.. but i've also heard others who say it's not as rank as cheese.. I'm sure it depends on the phenos that were used from yumboldt how it'll turn out..

It's definately a good chance that the Cheese in the cross is real, but without more info it's hard to say for sure..

I've seen other Cheese x (insert good strain here) cuts and seeds circulating so it could be from the same person..

anywho, expect some danky-dankness.. real Cheese to me smells like funky dead cherries, kinda cheesy i guess.. just so funky it's hard to describe.. And the smell can vary slightly from grow to grow.. It does look quite sativa, in fact, slightly more sativa (or at least as much) than the original Cheese cut, which seams strange since i thought yumboldt had a good dose of indica..

regardless, it should be good. i was looking for yumboldt for a while because of her reported stench.. So i'm definately interested in how she turns out.. be sure to post some wicked flower shots. :joint:

I'll put this into flower in maybe 6 weeks along with all my other crosses, when most of my 8-week strains are done, which will free up some room. I've been after Yumboldt for a while too, so I'm halfway there. I know the Cheese would have been legit to begin with, as my friend has good connections, but as to who made the cross, dunno - it wasn't him. At least it's healthy...:)

Rez - that's one great name - let's use that from now on... :chin:

I'll post updates as and when I can - this was a surprise addition to the collection, and like all 'unplanned family members', can take a while to fit in...:)

Benny - Only slightly cheesy - I have some synthetic cheese flavouring for making up fishing bait, and it's more like that than real cheese. But the main smell is a super-ripe fuel/fruit combo, like a really dank Jack Herer or Northern Lights.

What really astounds me is the smoothness of the ripening. A friend took a few macros, and almost every trichome is cloudy - no amber at all, and hardly any clear either. I'm totally gobsmacked by this cross - I thought it would take ten weeks at least, and it was just over seven... :woohoo:

There's more pics in my harvest thread below...

Anyway,Chumbolt is a good name. I like that, reminds me of Gbolt or skubba.

I've never grown Cheese or seen it up close, but the plant looks kind of like a Yumbolt. Did you get a below average yield? The Yumbolt doesn't reward you that well. Nobody really knows what Yumbolt is, but it leans on the Indica, and crossing it with a Skunk pheno (Cheese) makes the 52 days flowering time reasonable.

So it looks like you've got a Yumbolt with just a dash of Cheese in it.

Chumboldt huh? Yes, that's probably the name for it. Had the Skunk been dominant then I would have called it Yummycheese.

Blam...down the hatch...:)

RosyCheeks - I would say I got a very high yield, for the size of the plant - it was only weeny. I hate guessing weights when wet, so I won't, but the buds are heavy...:)

I've never grown either parent before, but I'll grow this again, without a doubt. There's a certain 'look' to the buds I haven't seen before - was just checking the trimmed ones drying, and they look really interesting - just the colors, really, and the calyx distribution. I'll take pics of the best cola when it's dry so you can see what I mean.

Also each branch just filled up, right to the soil, with no attempt to grow upwards - just 'out', like an explosion... :chin:

Cheese clones..

Cheese clones..

If anyone has any of the clones we would love to have them at the Farmer's Mkt in Clearlake. It has a good buzz in europe.. no pun intended.

This plant is now dry, and has produced...wait for it...69 grams (2.5 ounces) of rock-hard bud, plus awesome trim for hash.

Now that's what I call a good yield for a 16" high plant with four branches...:)

This one clone will have to be multiplied I think...:)
