CHEAPER ENZYMES

I’m sincerely pleased that this thread has been beneficial to so many people for so long.

There’s honestly no need to spend as much as most people do to have a good grow.

Good luck to you all.

Was using pond zyme and it really cleared up the res a ton. Anyone else tried or been using cheaper enzymes?

If these zyme products keep the rez's clear, would they have any effect on the slime associated with aero cloner's, or is that something completely different?

Thanks for the thread! I started using this stuff from Bunnings (Australia) $20

I have no idea if it works, but things are looking pretty healthy and I had some earlier signs of root rot which seem to have disappeared.

Guys, does anyone understand the stuff dongle was going on about? I understand the hydroponic dose, but what is the standard pond dose for that product? I was going to alter my pond dose in a similar ratio. :thank you:

There was a test of pond cleaner vs cannazym in action on another site i was on, but the site has since disapeared.
Gonna get some of that aquapro i reckon and use it this time, i hate paying through the nose for summat that can be bought for pennies instead of pounds.

Careful when using these concentrated products (even in dried forms). PondZyme ate my skin on contact. Always remember to wear PPE, folks. That being said, PondZyme is taking its sweet time to break down old roots in my used coco. Been about 3 weeks now. Applied it 2x.

Thanks for this thread!:thank you:

I use a bit of FulPower (.5 TBS/4G)

Dutch Masters has a product "ZONE" said to be used with any grow medium.
http://www.dutchmaster.com.au/?language=english&page=product&product=GOLD_RANGE_ZONE

1ml/G ~ $20/liter. Can be used from start-finish. Also said to help revive sick roots. Wish I had it during early december cold spell. The cold combined with me dealing with a nasty flu bug- did not pay attention to what was going on in my root chamber. Cost me 6 young plants and at least a month set back on the 2 survivors.

FYI I am using Gold Silica, ADD.27, Grow/Flower A&B. Don't know why I didn't buy Zone at the same time.

DunkyDunk: I believe the slime is caused by feed cycles that are too long. I experienced slime when I was using low pressure + 15 minute feedings. Since switching to high pressure and deep cycle timer (<2 seconds) no more slime issues

Very interesting read.

Currently using Hygrozyme - and am happy with it - but this is a great idea. May have to give this stuff a shot when this bottle's ghost.

Ha! Look at what I found for $4.99. It sounds like it does the same thing these other enzymes do for 1/100th the price!!

Thanks Old Man!! You Da Man!!

I like the idea if using this stuff at 1/2 strength to decompose dead roots to create food for the good microbes and to eliminate feeding and breeding media for pathogens in the soil.

I also have a rather large compost pile (30 cu yards +/-) that I want to see if this will help accelerate the composting process.

I found the Microbe-Lift Concentrated Barley Straw Extract. There is another version with Peat, but I thought it might play havoc with PH. Dose is 1 OZ per 500 gallons. That equals 1 drop per gallon ( approx 480 drops per OZ per Wikipedia). This stuff will last a lifetime. At $14 from my local landscape supply shop, can't beat the price either!

Thanks for all of the prior posts and input - I really like this thread!!

After reading this I am confused. Currently I use Hygrozyme and want to switch to a cheaper pond concentrate.

But, I dont understand how this stuff works, the pictures above show this stuff eating away at roots. How does this stuff discriminate from dead roots and live roots?

Also, someone above said they called the owner of one of these products and he said it would absolutely kill any mycorrhizae. This is not good! Is this true? Doesnt Hygrozyme NOT kill mycorrhizae? Do any of these products above definitely not kill mycorrhizae?
