Clean the glass with some glass cleaner. For a filter I wouldn't use cheese cloth because the holes are to big so you would have to use a shit-ton of it to do any good if your trying to defend against dust. Your best bet is a can filter of some sort or to just clean the tube ever so often. Is it a hassle to get the bulb outa the tube once the grow is in motion?

i can't really advise you on the bulb, but a layer or 2 of cheesescloth on the intake(s) should keep the cabinet a bit cleaner.

I like the cheapest bulbs, changed every 2-3 blooms, new bulbs pay for themselves in yield.

If you go with the cheaper bulb now, you can upgrade later and keep the cheapie for a backup. But, if you spend 2-4 times the amount and something untowards happens to the expensive bulb, you're out of bulbs...period.

I use the AC foam filter I can cut to size for my intakes. They are cheap enough to be disposable and sturdy enough to be washable (or at least a good rinse). A definite part of scheduled maintenence. Be forewarned, however, it will reduce the airflow somewhat. Something to watch for, is a slow but steady rise in temps over a period of a month or two and paying close attention to how hard your fan is having to work. At the very least, rinse/wash or replace before starting any new grow. My :2cents: Hope this helps.

Namaste, mess

I would spend extra bucks and buy Hortilux they are up to 25% more effective and will pay for themselves..just my 2 cents
