Cheap water meter/gauge?

I have a couple rezes that are oval and are not practical to measure. I was wondering if Home Depot has a gauge that I can put on a hose to see how much water is actually going in the rez?

They are 100 gallons each so filling up buckets is not practical.

Only way i know how is using a marker and tape marking inside every 5 or 10 liters or so. You could also mark a stick? Water meter would be great tho.
Doesn't realty answer your question but just my ideas.

With a power bill that high, wouldn't the power company tell the pigs?

Marking the sides wont do any good cause I wouldnt know what to mark them. What would be nice is when you buy a container and it says 100 gallons, is to have a line where the 100 gallons is. My issue is I am using two res'es, linked together, so to keep them from overflowing when the water pumps between the two, I dont fill them up. So I have no idea how much water is in them, just a guesstimate.

As far as electric goes, I am not worried about it. I actually have an extra meter someone gave me (to run for 2 weeks, then put real meter back in for meter reader), and I chose NOT to use it. Too many people get busted for stealing, I'd rather take my chances of a high bill then get caught stealing electric.

Yeah electric company probably love growers huge cash for them. I hear ya, 8/10 bust in BC Canada are because of stealing electricity apparently, if you get caught electric company charges you 10s of thousands of dollars.

Could you tell me a little more about this double tank system to stop floods. If i have 4X4 sog grow (with those square disposable soil bags and clay pellets) how big of a res tank do i need? do i go double? Room in my grow is VERY VERY TIGHT lol so ill have to go with the minimum tank I need.

CG, thats how my res'es are set up. They are not setup to prevent a flood. They are linked together by a tube at the bottom. The reason is I needed tons of water, well over a 100 gallons and this was the best solution for me.

What I refer to as a flood, is the res on the left overflowing. The pump is in the one on the right and it feeds the table. The pump is also "T"eed so it pumps back into the res on the left at the same time it feeds the table so everything gets nice and mixed up at all times. When I mix nutes, I close the valve and the pump, pumps directly to the left rez. The left rez can get higher then the right one, possibly overflowing.

So thats the reason the reses dont get filled up.

4'4'x4" (4"flood height) = 9216 cubic inches. It may be here on IC but I did a google on gallons to cubic inches when working on mine to calculate how much water I would need. Remember the pump wont pump every drop of water out and you want some extra water so you dont refill every 2 days.

I think 30-40 gallons is a good guesstimate but do the math, its really easy.
