So I have a bunch of 3 gal pots with holes in em and I can't figure out a reliable and cheap way to turn them into Hempy buckets, so I'm gonna have to buy them.

Any suggestions on a source for cheap 2 gal (or around 2 gal) buckets? Ideally opaque.

The cheapest ones I've seen are some 2 gal's at Home dePot for $2 a piece.

Still not cheap enough for my blood.

I get both the "squarish" white 4 gallon, round 4 gallon buckets for nothing from resturant(s). I use the ones stuff like sour creme, pickles and other non toxic stuff comes in. Check around places that serve food. Everything comes in those buckets it seesm anymore. I've also seen them in smaller sizes too.

People must think I'm an idiot because whenever I see a bucket laying on the side of the road I go back and get it. Even at only $5.00 a pop, that's more than I want to spend.

I do exactly what toodles does. I drive a sweeper truck at nights and i'm always dumping at dumpster and you wouldnt believe how many restuarants throw away those square white buckets. I also snatch the 5 gal round ones, free is free!

All good suggestions.

killa, they were actually a dollar? I've seen $3 items at the 'dollar' store.

If the HG site was up, I could provide links easily.

Some dollar stores carry a pail that is about 1 1/4gal-ish, semi clear..wrap it with tape to block light...$1ea...but it is in fact almost 8" wide...a great dimension IMO.

You can buy black "poly tube"...use a heat sealer and make your own grow bags without holes in them...then punch a hole as desired.

You can also buy black plastic bags in bulk in various sizes...punch your hole.

btw...all you'd have to do is line your 3gal pots with any plastic, even clear...drill a hole thru the side of the pot and puncture the liner. Done.

The buckets dry wall mud comes in can be used too. Sometimes they are laying all around a construction site. You take them to a car wash with a high pressure spray wand and wash them out. That hard drywall comes right off...usually LOL!! The HP water will clean most anything out of a bucket.

Depends on how many you need. I looked into buckets before I decided to make my own hydo ebb and flow beds 4x 12 feet out of 2x 10 . But back to the buckets, there was a company that shipped bulk that manufactured these buckets but you had to buy like 220 of them. I told them I had a u-pick berry farm and needed them to have my logo printed on them. :D They were really nice though, mini 2 gal black ones that looked just like the full 5 gal ones and where around 1.20 I think . I will see if I canfind the info :joint:
