CFL v T5 for clones

I'm setting up a cloning station in a 1.5 x 3.5 foot closet.

I was thinking of getting a 200 or 300 watt CFL but the guy at the local hydro shop recommended a high output T5 setup with four two foot lamps.

What do you guys think is better?

T5 is much better.
Spreads the light out more evenly. and the spectrum is better for veg growth.

Yeah I've got 2 18in T8 lights doing dual spectrum. Works great if kept within 5in of the plants or so, I seem to need to add something along the side of the wall.

Go with the T5 set up for clones. 4 two foot tubes will only use 96 watts and kick out 8000 lumens. It should cover about 2 ft x 1 ft. T5's are also cheaper to replace than high output CFLs.

try walmart they sell a single bulb fluro advertised as a grow light has 17w cool white bulb can be replaced with 20w bulbs.
2ft grow light from wal mart w/17w bulb 10$ extra 20w bulb 6$


my DYI 15 site clone bubbler off to the side of seedling and fresh planted clone staging erea. theres 3 x 20w single bulb fluros secured to 1 side of a peice 2x12. 2x20w cool 1x20w warm in center

clones before thier rooted only need minimal lighting or they'll consume themselves {no roots to exchange energy in leaves}

my fastest rooting accures when only 1 - 20 w bulb is on once theres roots i'll pop the other 2 bulbs on

for your veg erea i suggest cfls from hardware store

42w=150w sprial cfl's 8$
25w=100w daylight or sewing machiene light 2pk8$

heres my veg erea with the cfls i mentioned garage light with aluminum reflector and clamp i removed the reflector. added a Y adaptor to hold 2 bulbs each fixture is approx cost of
22$
each fixture has
45w=150w warm @ 2900 lumens 2700k color
25w=100w daylight @1470 lumens 5000k color
70w for 22 dollars and its mixed spectrum warm white and daylight

1 more fixture not in pic above another bonsai mother plant, also i have 2 other setups if needed for total of 420w in mixed color spectrum cfls

I agree with the major, when u say cloning station im guessing u mean just getting roots, which needs minimal light. i just use a 26w CFL over about 25 clones its cheap, save the t5 for veg or rooting the clones
