CFL Madness

Alright ya'll, I hope everyone's ready for this CFL masterpiece.

First off, this is about as simple as one can get with the least amount of cash readily available. Soil is MGMC, pots are from walmart (they are the self watering pots that have a little pocket where water can be poured directly onto the roots), CFL bulb's from homedepot (there are seven 150watt equivalent bulbs putting out 2700 lumens each), for the past 2 weeks we have used MG bloom booster plant food from homedepot (15-30-15 is the ratio of NPK) and we plan on flushing out in approx one more week depending on how much longer it'll take. Each plant is about 20" give or take a few inches.

The seeds are from a california dispensery, however the person I got these from couldnt remember the name of the place (haha). Two of them are Purple Monster while the other is Juicy Fruit. We're hoping for the best and a big yield!

very nice man, i had to laugh 'cause i remember the
clamp light days, i think you'll like the taste but be a
bit disappointed in the yield.

here's a couple pics of a vanity light bar with 4 sockets,
each with a y splitter so a total of 8 bulbs, mostly 23's
and 26's, it retails for about $20.00 at Lowes and HD but
i found mine at a local discount builders supply house for
under $5.00, the splitters are about $2.00 each.



if you check your local phone book you will probably find
a few discount builders supply house's, grossmans and the
like or better yet, a builders salvage yard.

you can find some good deals at the salvage yards too,
either on an HPS security light or fluoro office fixtures.

you can also look into PLL's if your headroom is limited.

anyway, keep it up man and keep us updated, it's always
fun watching someone doing a first grow, just be careful,
growing gets under your skin man, it's way more addictive
than smokin'.

Like I said I got it from a local where I am now who had traveled out west to Cali and snagged some seeds. We were doin heavy business together and he offered em to me for basically nothing. I cant wait to taste the juicyfruit though, it was one of my favs when it came thru.

Germinated using the damp paper towel method for 48 hours. By the start of the 3rd day the seedlings were almost completely out of the seed casing. This is when I potted them and turned on the lights. Vegged for approx. 4 weeks on 18/6 for 3 weeks and 20/4 for the last week (Now I know to run 24/0, which I did run on my other op that I started after this one). Finally they have been in flower (lights are 12/12) for almost 7 weeks now.. so we're lookin into the last 2 weeks I'm just not quite sure. I'm at about 25-30% orange/burgandy hairs and the rest are still white but the trichomes are lookin beastly, and my main colas bud is gonna be a big boy.

Haha 10-4 on that buddy, and that helps a lot man I really appreciate it. I'm gonna have to run by my local hardware stores and check some things out cuz I was definately looking into using t8's or even t5's if it'll light the grow closet better. And yeah I wasnt expecting a super huge yield, The plants are barely gonna reach 2ft tall so just a simple first op.

Any suggestions on when to stop feeding them plantfood? I've heard to flush it with only water for the last 2 weeks or the bud will taste like doodoo and crackle when lit but I dont have much exp. in determining the difference so any suggestions are appreciated.

mornin' man, here's some pics of the PLL's i mentioned
in my last post, and believe me, if you're limited for headroom,
these are the lights for you!


what they are is remote ballasted CFL's which aren't
all spiraled, kinda like a 4ft T5, but folded in half, so
they are much more efficient than standard CFL's,
plus, they run much cooler than standard CFL's.

yeah, it's true you need to flush the last week or so,
or your buds won't be as good as they could be, although
i must say, if you're used to middies, even unflushed
bud will taste better than you're used to, lol, no bud is
so sweet as the one you grew for yourself!

anyway, determining when they are ready to chop is best
done with a handheld microscope so you can see the
trichomes and not just go by the hairs changing color.
