So how many of y'all out there would like to get into growing top quality organic cannabis on a budget aka Ghetto status?
I know that a good many of y'all would love to have a simple lil grow space/garden to call your own, some of ya'll though don't have the luxury of being able to use H.I.D lighting due to current living circumstances like space issues where your at or you don't wanna spike your utility bills like a full sized grow would do.
Well I've gotta few pointers for y'all, because there is hope for y'all too who've had their own dreams of knowing the joys of cultivating your own personal stash.
What you need: Vegetative/Bloom chamber dimensions. You need to carefully measure your grow space no matter how small it maybe, or a layout for of a small open floor space in case you wanna construct a small grow tent or recycle an old dresser as a stealth cabinet. (But you can get away with growing even a single plant if your genetics are what you're looking for.), White Plastic or Mylar, Light Timer(s) (two if you've got separate growth chambers). A small air fan for air circulation, and a Soil Master 3 in 1 soil prob that measures PH, Soil moisture and Lumins.
Veg Lights: I use a mixture of both cool and warm white CFL bulbs that are around 100 watts apiece running a total of 400 watts, while using a 3 in one Soil master probe to measure my lumins and keep the canopy within a range of 1,000 - 2,000 lumins at all times from sprout til crop transfer day.raising the lights as the plants grow, Run all lights together into a light timer programmed to 18/6 for veg. (I have access to spaces in my basement that give me the room to grow my legal plant limits for myself and 3 other adults.) When it comes to a single plant you can either use the light that radiates through a southern window space or just simplify what I've done and just use 1 - 2 CFL's in your miniature grow space for a 100 - 200 watt total with your lumins measured within the proper range.
Bloom Lights: I am running a 450 watt 4 bulb T5 that's throwing 20,000 max along side a 125 watt CFL (one of the giant bulbs), but currently more Blue spectrum than red but that's not that big of a issue for me, I get great results anyways lol while running them both on a separate light timer programed at 12/12. And when it comes to the micro grower Bloom lighting can be as simple as just switching out for CFL spectrum from over 5,000K down to around 2,700K soft white. (Your Light Scheduling doesn't matter with Autoflowers, you can run them from 24/7 down to 12/12 and they'll still bloom once the plant reaches full maturity instead of being photosensitive)
Strain selection: Indoors in general you've gotta select strains that are within the characteristics that you personally desire which generally are shorter plant structures and non-offensive terpin odors. You can either go full simplicity or what I call completely idiot proof by selecting autoflowering genetics (which I've had decent success with personally), or if you've gotta sealed up light proof grow area select Indica dominant strains that are short by stature and fast flowering at 7-8 weeks both that contain the non-stinky terpin profiles you want like fruity varieties that don't smell like fuel or skunk piss unless you don't have that kinda issue to worry about lol. Also you can choose to optimize on your grow by adding a SCROG set up too for inter-node spacing for more canopy penetration and yield increases or go for LST methods too.
Medium and Containers: I use Organic Soil and 3 gallon containers.
But you can use any sized container you're heart desires that's practical for the grow space your using but generally expect a smaller plant and smaller yield weight with containers that're 1 gallon or smaller.
Nutrients: Pro Biotics Baby!
My next Lighting venture in the future will be LED's! And I'll gladly report on that too.
Any further questions about micro grow construction and ect. are welcomed.
