CFL 300W Dual Spectrum

Am I making an error buying these kind of lamps when setting up a growing room?

I'm thinking about the low heat but mostly about the low electricity usage.

Those mogul socket 300W cfl's get hot, especially because their ballast is built into the bulb. Their no way as effiecient as a 400W or even a 250W Hps in flowering, its been proven bar none, cfl's work well for Vegative growth and rooting clones, ect. They will flower your plants though, but the harvest will be nothing compared to hps in the same wattage, as for heat, i think a 250w hps with the ballast remotely outside your growroom will be comparable to that of a 300w cfl. plantlightinghydroponics.com are a nice place to get hps ballasts already assembled and ready to go, lots of people on here like their servie and prices, including me. good luck

bought 1 of these bulbs because of heat probs,bulb runs a lot cooler than a 250w hps(can grab hold of these,wouldn't recommend that with hps!!).grows nice sticky bud but very light and airy

they put off more heat than one thinks. especially in a cab. but still less than a stndard hid. probably easier on the wallet / bills. i run both so hard for me to distinguish
