Centrifugal fans

Quick question - which 6 inch centrifugal fan is the quietest? I'm going to be using a controller to keep it at about 50% speed and run two, one to pull through the filter and a separate one to cool the 1k (I figure two fans running at 50% are quieter than one running at full power). I'd also liek to know where you can get it (if it's not bghydro).

Peace,

Model for model, the Elicent is 5-10 dB quieter than a Vortex. A 3 dB drop cuts noise levels by half.

I feel your pain. I went through it too.

Vortex has the longest reputation for quality. A Vortex fan is a good fan. Elicent (Italian, I think) is newer, at least to the American market. So far they seem equivalent to Vortex in quality.

If all you need is quality, Vortex has the longer track record. If noise is a concern, the Elicent is quieter. If you go the Elicent TP route (TechnoPolymer) it's quieter still.

Of course, if you lock people out of the room or put the fan up in the attic, noise level becomes irrelevant.
