Anyone ever use ceiling fans in there growrooms? the thought just occured to my while sitting in my computer room...I have a fan in this room that is so efficient and queit and can't really see any downside, other than space that a ceiling fan poses.

A friend uses one in his room but it has 10' ceilings and is necessary in the Winter. It works great.

other than taking up little power on a circuit that may or may not be on the same circuit as your lights (hopefully it's not) I dont see any downfalls. The one I have in my room has a switch that will make the fan turn clockwise or counter-clockwise depending on the switch's posistion.

I use it for a little extra help to regulate temps and circulate air when it's needed

I use a small fan at the top of the grow room to circulate air and to prevent the air from becoming stratified or layered. Gives the atmosphere a good homogenous mix!

Depends on if its going to be in the way or not,my 8 by 8 room had a ceiling fan but I had to remove it to hang 3 vertizontals,if its not in your way in any way I dont see a problem with it I find the more air movement the better(Not the faster but the more)

hate to be a pessimist, but contstantly running ceiling fans cause a good many house fires

Really? Does the motor catch fire or something?

I had one catch on fire in the middle of the night...nearly burned the house down.
I've seen two others go up in flames in the last ten years...in separate houses in separate states. I think I have bad ceiling fan karma for some reason or another. I don't argue it, I plan for it. I don't run ceiling fans unless I am home, and I made sure to have smoke detectors in every room that has one.

If you do run the fan...don't tell me about it. I'd hate for my karma to rub of on ya.

Wow, I have never heard of such cases. I would say at least half of the fans in my house run in some form 24/7.

Thats crazy bro,the major reason for their existince is to raise room temps 4 or 5 degrees when left on all the time, they're made for that purpose. You must be exposed to some funky wiring and installation techniques or something, its one of the first objects ever to use an electric motor, ceiling fans have a rich and diverse history lol

i dont consider the fans that dangerous, but they have caused house fires, its usally related to faulty wiring.
its just another factor in your growroom that can go wrong, the more things that can go wrong, the better chances of something going wrong. any how keep it simple and safe
