Carbon scrubber questions!

Hi all!

Been busy building my cabinet and now that is done and lightproof I have a few questions!

The size of the cab is 200cm high X 100cm wide X 60cm deep.

I have twice the size passive intake than I have outtake 2 X 127mm (5" X 2) and one outtake at 102mm (4")

I've used weatherstrips on the doors and on every shelf and I have no light leakage.

I can feel the air being drawn into the scrubber and it blows rather nicely out the other end. But my main question would be how do I know this will work so I dont end up having to terminate a grow due to smell?

I guess I am abit paranoid around that part. During construction of the scrubber I couldn't find anything else than the bit stretchy metal mesh so the core ended up abit lopsided, I finished construction just to see and the airflow felt very even all around the scrubber. Should I scrap it and try to find better mesh? I have been around to all the places that sell it and noone carries any less stretchy mesh. It is also 23" long and 5" around.

Is there anything I can do to test it before I start my grow? I have attached a quick and dirty mspaint drawing of my cabinet.

Thanks as always for answers.

some small grows use ONA blocks

Ah very nice I will keep this in my mind if the filter ends up being bust.

I have some incense would that work to test the filter?

Also retarded question time, my two intakes is 5" and my outtake is 4" but the light trap pipes going from the bottom and up trough the shelf the plants will stand on is 4" will this ruin the whole negative pressure I have been trying to achive? I am just wondering!

Just tested with three incense sticks burning where the plants will stand, closed the cabinet and put on the fan. The whole bedroom smelled up really bad. Is there a difference from something burning and something smelling naturaly like say cannabis or have I messed up somewhere? I cannot see any light leakage, the smell coming from the exhaust is like faintly perfumed active coal.

Yes thats apples and Oranges....You need something that has a foul Oder. Carbon removes these VOC for the air...Put a fish in there in a bag and open the bag let it sit for a week and see what you smell..The fan must match the scrubber of for to work properly. You should have just bought the properly sized filter for your setup...

I applaud your DIY skills but i have to agree with Hammer .... when it comes to stealth & security , A DIY scrubber would worry me . I'd just buy an oversized scrubber & not worry for the next year .

If they weren't that expensive as they are I would have agreed! Most likely I will just finish up the stealth cab, try a grow with some bagseeds I got for free. And if it turns stinky outside the cab I'll scrap the grow and go back to my drawing board. Also found the Ona blocks for cheap where I live so will be testing that aswell. Thanks for the tip! Any other tips are always welcome!

remember for light leaks to sit in the dark several minutes or more. If they are small ive found i cant see them at first until my eyes adjust

Yeah I did notice a very small one after doing this, so thanks for the tip! Other than that it's been light proof!

That. There is no reason to skimp on a filter.
You can get a combo for about $140.

Maybe where you live but not in my country. :)

I have looked everywhere and the price range is very steep so with my current economy it is a no go.

But a link to the combo at 140 usd would be nice to see so I can see if its something I can get where I am living! :)
