Carbon Scrubber in Totally sealed room...

OK I have searched and read till my eyes bled. How do you use a Carbon Scrubber in a totally sealed room with Co2. I have seen some pictures of some rooms with them just sitting in a corner on the ground with a vortex style fan on them. Do they just recirculate the room air and do they affect Co2. Does the Co2 get sucked up by the scrubber and will this affect the Co2 PPM's you are trying to maintain. How would one set this up correctly. Any info or pictures would be greatly appreciated.............. :sasmokin:

since co2 sinks, growers tend to play this factor off an active ventilation system in the top of their space, as to make the co2 rise to the exhaust, therefore hitting the plants along the way.....and yes the co2 in the air is sucked through.... thats why you have to have a PPM air reader, or know through one of those regulatory systems exactly how much your pumping in!

Thanks Tarbosh but there would be no ventilation in this room the scrubber would just recirculate the room air, will the scrubber pass the co2 through it or will it grab it and take it away from the plants thanks again for your reply........... :joint:

A carbon scrubber shouldn't absorb the CO2 because they filter out solid (and maybe liquid?) particles, so for the CO2 to be absorbed by the filter the temp of your grow room would have to be somewhere around -120f degrees, which i doubt it is, lol

Thanks TWG, I am interested in Closed Enviroment Growrooms No in or Out Vents. I would use a Co2 Generator, AC, Dehumid/Humid, But I know there is still the need to cover smell. I ve seen grows with scrubbers just recirculating the growroom I assume this is still affective the mask smell. But I wondered if the scrubber affected the Co2 Enrichment. Thanks again for all your guys input. If anyone else has info please feel free to educate me..................................

no new infor here, other than to say that the scrubber will certainly NOT affect CO2 levels. it's made to filter out odor, which consists of tiny particulate matter. co2 is a gas and won't be affected

peace :)

Gonna go the Remo method huh???? Yeah Im about to convert my room to a sealed room as well. No in out vents, just AC and a dehumidifier+CO2 enrichment.

I think a carbon scrubber is a complete waste of money in a sealed room.Of course this is just my opinion. How can the smell escape if it is a truly sealed room?? It may be difficult to completly seal a larger room, in my case It will be a snap because my room is small.I plan on doubling the Dry wall thickness and siliconing every crack and seam. The only spot I could see smell beeing able to get out would be through the vented shade. That is easily remedied with a small scrubber.

Yeah I am looking at the Remo method. But I am just doing research right now. Gonna be a while before I get going. I need to find the right place to set up which means I am going to be moving. Probably wont be ready till first of 07'......... :joint:

Carbon scrubber in any room is worth it! Even a sealed room you have to go in and out of. Also things like electrical wall sockets allow air exchange. 99% of sealed rooms are not 100% sealed. The smell will find a way out. In a sealed room just allow the scrubber to ciurculate the air. Stick it in a corner or hang it. Very simple, but worth the money, space, and trouble. It also helps to keep att the air circulating.

I got a big can and use it to cool my rez:

Will help keep the temps 10-15 degrees below room temp with no ill effects.

My room is totally sealed and at this time no c02 is being used BUT?!

I do suggest if you get a big one get a speed controller,my 8 inch at full blast is close to standing next to a jet engine but my controller (19.99 E-Bay) makes life easy.

Pm me if ya got any more questions but If I had to do it again I'd go for a Vaportek and forget the can and fan all together.

Hope It Helps

Greetings everyone new member here. I would like to know if carbon monoxide is a problem/concern with a co2 burner in a sealed room?

i guess that its not a problem...the co2 burner creates CO2 and not CO, but regardless the plants themselves create O2

That is what I figured too. As long as the flame is blue like in a water heater it should be all right. But when I finally get around to trying a sealed room grow I will probably put in a carbon monoxide detector to be on the safe side.

Im very curious about these sealed rooms, certainly C02 must have a used by date, so to speak,as in your co2 should be replaced every couple of hours or so i thought, did some googling on the subject and thought these might be helpful to some people

sure is making me rethink my current grow, all hydro shop "guys" that i have spoken to have recommended venting the room at least once an hour, and changing out the co2 completly. might have to invest in a C02 sensor hmmmm

well hope that helps

if you vent the room, its not sealed... you can bring in pathogens like mold and insects.

the CO2 in regenerated as needed, controlled by the moniter. the CO2 either leaks or is used up by the plants

i have noticed on my ppm-1c co2 monitor that the room will depleat co2 FAST when i manually turn on the exhaust/scrubber.

the co2-4 controller keeps the exhaust from running while co2 is going (if temps permit) sometimes it's just too damn hot so it has to run.
