Carbon Filters

How often should carbon filters (Can Fans) be replaced? People I have talked to say every 12 months, but I've had mine for years and still no smell, by the way I use mine in a sealed room to scrub (clean) the air. My rooms stay clean, but just curious as to how long they are known to last? I have Can 150s which are the big boys and they are heavy and a pain in the ass to move. Not to mention this is a costly but must for a smell and air control in a commercial set up.

I'm on 5th run with a rhino hobby and it is starting to struggle, I changed the filter cover for first time and think it has helped slightly but no way it will do another run, I'll prob try the rhino pro next

I have heard of some hoovering the carbon through the holes and some replacing the used carbon with new carbon but have no experience with that myself

I have had my carbon filter for years and it's done loads of grows and still no sign of any smell yet, When it doe's i think i will look into changing the carbon in the filter.

I take mine out to the patio, put the vortex fan to blow back thru the filter for about 30-45 mins, or until I stop having a grey/beige fine dust collecting on the outer grill. I wipe it about every 10 mins to monitor this. I finally replaced my Mt. Air with a Phresh last year even though the MA was still doing the job after 5 years. I do the blow back roughly every 6 months. Hmmm...that reminds me... Good luck. -granger

Great stuff. I have week or two left of flower and I'm going to try blowing and hoovering the carbon and test it out in drying tent, was due to replace so in perfect position to try. Will post info
Thanks

Im on my second year with a ma and it been great. I'm new to growing and was nervous of how good they worked (carbon filters in general)

If you are new and wondering ..... 100% if set up right. I have had all sorts of people in my house even a news crew for over an hour:) nobody has ever thought twice.

Yeah I've had local police in my house downstairs twice while late in flower and drying, was a paranoid week afterwards just wondering if they smelt anything and were on way back after finishing whatever investigation they were doing
I couldn't do what I do without a working one

Tried a good blow and vacuum and filter worked like new :) but only for 2/3 days so not worth it, in my case anyway.
May try replacing the carbon in one someday but not rushing
:tiphat:

Funny timing to see this thread bumped - I just ordered 1, and the reviews said 1 year then reverse the flange to other end and get a second year. That's def affordable - 2 yrs for $55.
