Carbon Filters and Humidity

Guest

I have read that high relative humidity can reduce the effectiveness of carbon filters.
(At what % of rh does this happen?)

I've also read - where someone else has read, then posted - that 50% rh causes problems...(no source was cited, lol)

Where I'm at, we commonly have rh significantly higher than 50%!
Anyone else get 100% rh?...how bout when it's raining?
:badday:

What do people in high humid areas do for odor control?

If the humidity in your room is getting that high you need to invest in a dehumidifier. Humidity that high is bad for the plants and I think I saw somewhere that it can cause bud rot during flowering.

Another way of doing odor control is to use an inline ozonator that goes in to your exhaust tubing, of course this also requires 15ft of exhaust tubing AFTER the ozonator for safety reasons.

Kroter i have heard about the high RH messing with the carbon filters aswell..all i can say is get a good dehumidifier if your getting a high RH like u say

@ lights out mine goes up to 78% for a few hrs @ lights on it its 50 or less...good air movement should eliminate bud rot but 100% rh humidity is it raining in your grow room?...my carbon scrubber works just fine in my room with higher humidity but i have read the same thing as you...i dont believe it...peace

The RH in my darkroom gets into the 60-70% humidity range, but i run an aircooled light to a carbon scrubber. The heat from the lamp keeps humidity down some so the carbon scrubber keeps working fine. Upgrade is correct on this one, proper airflow is key if you don't have a dehumidifer.

Thanks everybody for the replys, and sorry for the confusion.

I intake fresh air and sometimes it is raining outside...hope that clarifies...

This is what I am doing!
I want to add a DIY Filter at the end.
(1kW to attic to 6" Vortex pushing thru DIY Filter)
Very good to know!
Thanks Funk!

Does it get hot where you are? I couldn't imagine sucking summertime air into my closet, it would make my temps and RH soar.

I would intake from the room(if possible), though there may be better ideas..
