Carbon Filter, Will it work just in the room, not as exhaust?

First of all I apologize for so many threads, trying to figure out what I can do to get myself growing :) Everyone's been very helpful

I want to have a semi-sealed room but I still want odor control.

I won't have intake or exhaust in the room, what I am wondering is if I can just have a scrubber/fan running 24/7 in the room. It won't be exhausting the air out of the room, just scrubbing the air inside the room. Will this work for odor control?

The area is a basement, won't be using the whole basement but I still will be scrubbing the entire basement, I will need a 600 CFM fan and scrubber, if that helps any. (Basement is L=36, W=12, H=6)

im sure it doesnt work completely but it has to help? especially if you get the right size fan (CFM) and run it 24/7... and keep the filter fresh

I dont think that this will do what you are trying to accomplish (If I'm reading your post right).

The carbon needs to have all of the exhaust going through it in order for it to eliminate the odor, otherwise it won't be able to trap the smell. As soon as the "clean air" hits "dirty air", it becomes "dirty air" again.

In your particular case, I'd go with odor masking via a vaportek unit (Looks like I'll be able to start up a small grow soon, and will be using one of these for myself.). The carbon scrubbers only work if you vent all the air from the room through them, so it can remove the smell before it gets released into the open.

If you have a sealed room, with no intake or exhaust...how are they going to get proper air exchange??

From my readings, it would work in a closed system but you are going to need co2. Otherwise, without co2, you are going to need air exchange in which case, you want the filter as part of the air exchange. Sucking through or blowing through...whichever.
I could be wrong. the answer is on here somewhere. Reading is our friend...lol

The stink is still going to rise out the top cracks or slip out the sides.Venting into the rest of the basement will create the neg pressure you need topull all the smelly air through the scrubber and send the scrubbed air out.PEACE!!!MUCHA LUCHA!!! :joint:

kmk420kali... thats what CO2 is for, you dont need air exchange with co2

Mucha, im going to pm you to discuss this further

Sorry Smelltheflowers...I was seriously asking because I didn't know--
I have been working with grows for about 2 years now...first one was indoor, present one is greenhouse-- I did all of the construction, set-up...but I did not tend the plants on a day to day basis when in the indoor...so tho I have a lot of knowledge in some areas...I am still just very learning--
I asked, because in the indoor, we tried doing it sealed...and humidity forced us to change--
We used a 12 inch Phat Filter, with a 12 inch fan on top...scrubbing the inside air...as we were in an industrial park, with neighbors, we also had to scrub our exhaust...so we used a 12 inch in-line ionizer, with 12 inch fan--
We also had a CO2 gen..all were set on the brain to come off and on when they are 'spose to--
As you can see in the bottom pic, we had a couple plants in there...and thanks to the Phat Filter inside....you barely smelled anything when walking in...and NOTHING from the next room--
Hope this helps--

all u need for a grow enviornment is air full of CO2 and air that is at the right temp this can be accomplished with a CO2 tank/generator and an AC unit. now i think the question is if you put a carbone filter in the sealed room with a inline fan connected to it but the exhaust going back into the room, will this take care of the oder or atleast some of the smell.

No you are correct, I agree with you
I've decided to build a cab in the basement instead... will be easier and I won't need such large fans/filters. I only need a few hundred dollars to get all the shit i need and i make minimum wage shit lol

The answer to your original question is YES
If you run your fan and filter 24/7 smell control will almost be 100%.
