Carbon filter and fan help

Can someone help we with what size fan and Carvin filter I need for a 4x2x7 space? Maybe a quality brand suggestion?

Brands shouldn't really matter although some swear by rhino or phresh or whatever.

Afaik CAN are the old dawgs in the bizz but there are plenty of alternatives. My suggestion is to look for light versions of filters. Usually a bit more pricy but man are they heavy if you don#t pay for light...
Next I would consider size. Some filters can be really short if you pay a little extra or search for it while others can have ginormous proportions. A lot is possible size-wise it seems. Currently have filters that are about 30cm long which affords me lots of space for other stuff. Previously had filters that were over 60cm long and a pain in the ass to handle as an individual.

For the fans you rather have to decide on what kind of fan you want and how much of a factor noise plays in your decisions.

Sizewise it is always difficult to get the right help with these things.
If you read the "ventilation 101" thread, you theoretically should be able to calculate yourself.

But I had trouble with that myself because my design with several chambers was a bit out of the norm and the design suggested in the "ventilation 101" thread would have called for me to blow air through the carbon filter which is apparently suboptimal.

Anyway, I ended just asking the guys at the hydroshop where I bought my ventilation. If you got the right shop with standup guys, they will help you with it. At my shop they saved me hundreds of bucks on a silenced system (which I don't need in my setup) and also helped me both with the dimensions of filters/fans and the layout within the room.

I would have used several Y-connectors in succession, causing backlog/prolem with the ventilation. Fortunately the shop dudes made me see reason. Even though they sold me several fewer y-connectors (which aren't cheap), I have a better system now.

There's a lot of difference between brands of filters. Some use better carbon than others. The best carbon is in Mountain Air and Phresh. They use the same carbon, but Phresh uses an aluminum/aluminium case. Much lighter. You have 56 cu. ft. of space. One exchange per 5 min is minimal, but 2 per minute will control heat built up. A 4" Vortex fan on a Phresh filter, using a speed controller will do you. Check #701003 at http://www.phreshfilter.com/about/size-selector.aspx . Good luck. -granger
