Canopy Temps 86F how can i cool this down?!

Ok my canopy temps are out of control, they have been fine the entire time thru veg but now im in the 3rdish week fo flower and the temps are soring i think because of the thickness of the canopy and the fact that the "air in" vent is located below the canopy. So witht he light on my canopy temps are 86-88F with the light off the temps drop to 70F!

Ok so I have a 265cfm flat fan powering my exhuast, its right before the scrubber, and its inlet is a cooltube in the box. I also have 2 desk-type fans in the box to help move air in the box one is under the canopy blowing up into the canopy and the other is level with teh canopy blowing across it

My question is this: people were telling me this type of fan is not good for moving air, they were saying a active-air blower or a "vornado" blower would be better suited to the task.

Im confused tho- would a 175cfm "blower" move more air than my 265cfm flat fan?? and if so why?

Here is the setup as is-

Sealed Box w/cooltube => dryer venting => 4"to6" adapter => flatfan => 6"to4" adapter => scrubber

here is the EXACT fan im using, the 6" one [FF-6]:

please help me out, if a blower will move more air and bring down temps im gonna go out and buy one but if its just gonna move less air and not help at all im not gonna waste my time. I would use the blower to replace the flat-fan, i would not run them in conjunction.

Thanks guys! :joint:

As crazy as this sounds I had the same problem with heat, so I bought two of these units called swamp air units. They are very simple and incredibly useful. They are simply a fan unit with frozen ice packs in them that not only blow off cold air but also add humidity as well. Walmart, J.C. Pennies, really any hardware store. Man they dropped my temps from 79 to 68 if I turn them up all the way. At half power they keep 3 thousands at a cool 72 degrees with the humidity right at 52%. Not sure about the exhaust fans out there since there are so many know to choose from. Hewat sucks but unfortunately it will always be an issue and cause more problems than you know. Hope this helps good luck

can you sti the swamp-cooler on their side? the only way i could fit one in my closet is by laying it on its side do you know if they will keep functioning on their side? any other ideas? I was lookin at a 465cfm 6" vornado if all else fails...

my cab is 2.5' x 2.5' x 5.5' im thinkin maybe the scrubber is stifling the flat fan too much and just KILLING my throughput? im confused what the diff between a blower, inline fan, vornado, etc.? Noise level? Power usage? blowers seem much cheaper than the inline-fans....

Dude, 86F is fine... if it reaches the 90's then you need to worry...

But anyway... the link didn't work for me, but blowers work better than inline fans. At least that's what everyone says, I'm stuggling with a inline fan myself.

You'll not know the true temperature of any one spot in your grow until you have a noncontact IR thermometer handy.

That ambient air display showing 85°F/30°C might not cause you concern. That is until you hit with an IR thermometer and realise the top colas surface temperature is dramatically higher than what the ambient air temperature is. The canopy is of a color that has enough pigment to reflect some light, but sucks in the rest, such as the invisible IR waves. Also, because it is pin point accurate, you can go about seeing where spots in the grow are warmer than others.

As a means of fine tuning the temperature of a grow space, I mean really...its a must. All the bells and whistles such as a 500°F + limit are not a requirement. The laser light versions are much handier than a just IR version.
Oh...laser models double as fun things to do with animals that are mad for chasing spots from the floor to the wall. And, errmmm...any model is interesting for doing a thing like checking the temperature of your forehead after a good romp in the bedroom.

yeah i have a temp probe thing i looped around one of the colas directly under the light [hottest spot], but ur right, im sure the plant temp is higher than the air temp at the canpoy... anyway

I just decided fuckit and got a 600cfm activeair blower with speed controller :) that should bring them temps down like whoa ill be installin it tonight

Ok so I have a 265cfm flat fan powering my exhuast, its right before the scrubber,

problem #1 pushing air through the scrubber when its hooked to your cooltube i would assume a Y connector was used. increase your fresh air intake this could help, in my cab i have a 400w hps air cooled hood a stanely blower fan exhausts my lighting right into attick. then i have another fan hooked up to my scrubber and also into attick. are your venting into the same erea the fresh air comes into grow from ???. your cfl's and fluros will produce ambient heat i use as much as 280w cfl's for veg and never have temp problems.

nope im venting into the attic, completely diff area from the cab no y connector, my box works off negative pressure for intake

Anyway, UPDATE:

Hooked up the blower today, I was able to drop the light 6" closer to the plants only running the blower at 70%... temps on the canopy directly under the light are 5F [79F] above ambient in my house [74F]!!!! also the scrubber is working much better as well!
