I use coconut oil or butter for mine. Any vegetable oil or animal based fat will work, but I prefer the ones that stay solid at room temperature. I made a batch of olive oil based caps once, but they tended to get a little leaky if I left them sitting around at room temperature for a few minutes.
i have used many...olive, almond, sesame...they all word. coconut oil, however, has short and medium fat chains which pass the blood brain barrier, so that is what i use most frequently....almost exclusively..
I have heard that about coconut oil but really don't seem to notice and difference between it and olive oil.
I keep them in the freezer so I really don't have any problems with leaking but know what you mean.
I use MCT oil, which is a coconut oil that our bodies absorb faster than normal coconut oil. Or at least that is what I read. Worked for me, but definitely had to freeze them to make sure they don't leak.
