Cannabutter/mold

I was drying my trim leaves inside and some on bottom got moldy.

Any suggestions on salvaging, other than throwing them out?

Planning on finishing drying outside, in sun. That should kill any mold. Will it hurt the leaves?

It needs to be soaked in water for 3 days anyway, so figure the water will wash all mold off. Should I rinse them now, then dry in sun?

Any help would be appreciated!!!

You can do a water cure...takes a while. Material on a glass jar, fill with filtered water, shake, cap put in dark. Do daily, removing water- same process. Continue until water is clear (5-7 days). Can then be transferred to crock pot with water/oil. It's better (what I've found) to have material dried first.

Thanks Aridbud!!!

I found this tech from an Indian expert. They have been eating bud for centuries. He uses something called ghee (clarified butter) and liquid lecithin. He gently boils for 6 hours. Is a crock pot better? I have one.

I use a slow cooker...if you already have one, why pay to buy another apparatus to make ghee/cannabutter? A crock
pot essentially 'steams' anything.

For less cleanup, wrap the material in cheesecloth or a clean dish towel....makes it easy to wring out oils and far easier to clean than using sieves spatulas to clean out green material from crock pot. I usually run boiling water over the bundle a few times to extract the last of the butter infused cloth.

Refrigerate to have oils congregate to the top(scrape or spoon off) , the water below.

Good luck!

I have another question. Someone has a tech that says to mix soya lecithin with cannabutter. How much, and how? Does it need to be remelted???

Thanks!!

I will make the cannabutter with Ghee or clarified butter.

when I make my oil I add 1tsp lecithin per 10g of oil. I'm not really sure how that would work with butter, nor do I know if adding more to my own oil would have a better effect, I haven't tried it yet.

you will need to remelt the butter, but lecithin degrades at 110*C, but I doubt you'll get that hot anyway.

Also like he mentioned in the thread lecithin is an emulsifier so don't add it in the presence of water or you will get water mixed in the butter, and THC mixed in the waste water.

I'm actually going to make some of that butter myself, I have some damn good top notch shake soaking right now.
I'm going to use 454g of butter, 200g of this incredible shake, and probably 2tbsp of lecithin.

in my gummies I use 1tsp lecithin per 1/2c of water, and the recipe only calls for 1/2c of water to make roughly 80x3ml gummies, so you don't need a lot of lecithin for it to have an effect.

I've made my gummies with and without the 1tsp of lecithin and it definitely made a huge difference..... like the difference between feeling the onset in 30mins, and feeling the onset 2 hours later.
