Cannabutter change

I have made Cannabutter a bunch of times and always used cheesecloth to strain out the leaf. Instead of straining out the plant material could I force it down at the end. The oil in the leafs should raise up out of the water. Then cool and skim the butter off the top.

I used stainless steel coffee filters and a heavy espresso tamper back in the day
press the material then leave the tamper on and let gravity do its thing
Easy clean up and less loss to the cheese cloth absorbing oil
The wrist breaking twists of the cheesecoth

Your method mentioned above is a popular way of recovering oil

Sinking the plant matter, let the liquid rise and collect butter off the top is a great idea!
I'm thinking of making something like a large french press, use a small pizza screen in a large bowl to press down the plant matter while letting the liquid rise, then into the fridge for the butter to solidify. I'm gonna try this out next time I make cannabutter, keep you posted!
Thanks for the great idea, I hate wasting butter in the cheesecloth and I agree, the squeezing is hard on the hands'n'wrists.

Absolutely, I am curious if there is less plant matter contamination this way.
