Cannabis, The Bible , And Medical Argument need some help.

how is everyone this morning? so i made the leap and told my best friend in the world about my cannibus use and why medically i feel that it helps me, now keep in mind shes very very very very against it but because she is such a good friend of mine she doesnt hold it against me or think less of me which is great. shes a very straight edge and to the books kind of person and belives that the government has made laws for a reason and to protect us. i then asked her "what if i told you they talk of cannibus in the bible?" "Prove it" she said. so here is where i need your help, im sure someone out there can point me to passages and references where it is spoken of in the bible, ive heard about it and done some searching but not come up with anything really concrete enough to present as my argument. passages and text and reference points from anyone that knows anything about it would be phenominal. by doing this i hope to help her understand that maybe its not as bad as she makes it out to be and maybe make a diffrence and help to change someones views on what they think and are force fed to belive.

The other conversation we got into is that weed and alcholhol medically do the same thing to you as far as making you feel better, i told her that my hands constantly hurt and smoking weed makes them feel better, she then replied with .. i can drink a few beers and make my hands feel better, and thats legal. When is the last time you heard about beer helping fight cancer?
if anyone has any concrete articles about weed and cancer that could support my arguement that would be appreciated as well. also a concrete link about how its just about physically impossible to overdose on cannabis.

ANy and all help will be appreciated, i would greatly be in debt to you guys, i did some searching but i never find what im really looking for. so i turn myself over to the super smart stoner minds of icmag for help.

Endo, if you have a concordance for your Bible, look up Kaneh Bosem. The Levitical priests made an annointing oil from Myrrh, cinnamon, cassia, olive oil and kaneh bosem(qanah bosm). Many Christians claim the the kaneh bosem was sweet calamus or reed of calamus. Only problem with that is that sweet calamus is water soluble,not oil soluble.

The government makes laws to please the majority of the voters who vote for the politicians. The job of government is protecting us from others, not protecting us from ourselves. I think it was Thomas Jefferson who said that.

THc is neuroprotective. Look up cannabinoids on Wickopedia and show it to your lady friend. CBD is anti-convulsive. THC opens(dilates) veins and arteries and helps hypertension(high blood pressure.) Both CBD and THC help with nausea. CBN helps with insomnia.

Weed and alcohol do not do the same things. Alcohol destroys brain cells. million other things I could post, but don't have time. Sorry!

First off, anyone who believes that alcohol has the same medical properties as marijuana is plain ignorant.

The word 'kaneh' was the word in the Bible that meant cannabis and it is supposedly in reference to King Soloman (if I remember correctly.)
As far as passages in the bible that reference marijuana use here are a few...

Burnt offerings of Kaneh were a sign of respect and reverence. There is also a passage that directly associates Moses and hemp and/or hemp oil.
And there are several more references to marijuana in the Old Testament as well.

So her main beef with it is that it is illegal?

Why not remind her that up until the 1920's in the US, it was illegal for women to vote.

Why not remind her that segregation (and fer that matter slavery itself) were once legal in the US.

Why not remind her that in Nazi Germany, it was illegal for Jews to own property, go to school, be doctors, lawyers, teachers, have sex with a non-Jew, etc etc etc..........all for the "protection" of the German people.


Just because it is "illegal" does not make ANYTHING inherently wrong, or does something being "legal" make it inherently right.

If she has other reasons, those can be argued (usually pointlessly) using medical facts and Bible quotes and the like.....but I don't have much fer ya on that score.

thank you guys so very much, this is a great starting point, anything else anyone can contribute would be awesome. shes not crazy nut job religous, but she does attend church and its semi important to her. not that anything i tell her or prove to her is going to change her mind but maybe just make her be a little more understanding. everyone had given me some really good points to start from, my plan is just to just bombard her with info so much so that she will have no return argument. i myself should be more educated as well about the subject and your helping me learn as well. so thanks guys and ill be checking back after the holiday to see if anything else was added and ill be sure once i get everything together, to let you guys know how it worked out. thanks again very very much. my utimate goal although it probably wont happen would be to get her to smoke one, joint/bowl with me. if i could do that im sure she would see what a wonderful community and what great people we are. most times id rather sit here and talk to you guys than hang with real life friends... is that bad?

I have been having the same argument with my mother, for the past week about mj and its benifits, she is from the old school and believes that marijuana is a gateway drug and is illegal for good reason, I have learned that sometimes there is just no changing a persons mind when there viewpoints are so strong on some things. I still try and spread the truth though.
