Cannabis Seeds Transported by Birds?

I would imagine it depends on how strong the digestive acids were etc.. im sure theres birds which pass some seeds through.

Birds' stomachs are evolved into gizzards, gastric mills. Pigeons, chickens, turkeys & other birds intentionally ingest gravel & small stones that their gizzards use to grind up their food with the addition of stomach acids. Their "teeth" are in their stomachs. They also have a crop where food is stored prior to digestion, so the flow of food into the gizzard can be well regulated & the effect very efficient. Damned little gets through intact. I'm sure that varies by species.

My brother & I kept racing pigeons & birmingham rollers all through our teens, made it our science project more than once, so I remember some of it, anyway. I scraped plenty of pigeon poop out of nesting boxes, too.

yeah, I never said that seeds passed through but I know its not the case for all birds. in the uk we have blackbirds which often eat blackberries etc and the seeds go straight through them. either way, I don't think many canna seeds are likely to survive after getting eaten. I would imagine most seed eaters would easily digest all but the toughest seeds.

When I lived in florida there were shallow lakes all over the place. It was explained to me that the limestone under the ground would be hollowed out by water and then cave in leaving a depression which would be filled in by rains. I was told that in a short time fish would be found in the new waters and that birds were how they got there.
When I heard that, it seemed pretty neat to me and it was one of those silly things that just sort of stuck with me. If they can be the vehicle for moving fish to a new lake, seeds would not seem out of reason.

I thought this thread was about the future of seedbanks being stealth carrier pigeon delivery.
Lets keep it on track people.

In California Stellar Blue Jays and Scrub Jays gather up acorns from under trees and hide them in the ground every where for later consumption. It is called scatter hoarding, inevitably some of the acorns are never found again and grow into Oak trees. These birds replant entire forests.
