From what I have heard- getting into shops, getting weed, traveling (basically any aspect of the stoner experience in the Dam) is a pain in the ass during the Cup EVEN WHEN you buy a judge's pass. Apparently, if you're there without a pass, it's even worse.
I haven't been for the cup, so I dunno first-hand, but it kinda makes sense to me. Theoretically, the judges matter, and you don't. Realistically, nobody matters. I'm sure Greenhouse wins the cup, or at least one in the sativa/indica/hash categories.
I'm not suggesting you don't go, or that you buy a pass. I'm just letting you know that it will be a zoo- and the pickpockets know to expect a ton of blitzed out Americans, too.
Oh, and for those of you thinking about purchasing judges passes.... THE PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY WEED!!!! It's a pass to get you served and into the various events/trade show. The trade show I would LOVE to see, if only to say thanks and shake the hands of a few of my heroes.

Nah man, the weed can be ok and it can be on hit, you just need to know what shops have the best version of the strain.
It really pays to do alot of research before you go, i didnt so I just did a shop by shop thing. Do your own cup, there are plenty of people there on the offseason, same herb, just as fun, and peeps might be a little more laid back.
