Canna Butter yield question

When you cook canna butter and you start with 2 sticks, how much do you normally have when its cured? I always try to squeeze as much as I can and I always seem to lose 2 ounces or so of butter...Just curious. I always weigh and add butter to make the difference. I hate losing that canna butter though.

Probably depends on what type of stuff you are using to make the butter, If I'm using shake and left overs (1 - 1.5oz of dry shake/twigs for 5 sticks 1.25lb) I lose close to a full stick, even after a fine mesh/cheesecloth and squeezing. I use the pulp in the cheesecloth to soak in alcohol and then use the infused alcohol to make spiced milk. I'm going to make some in the next few weeks, I'll try and use a scale so I'm exact for future reference.

I can safely say that I lost ~25-30% when I cooked my last batch. I cooked up 4 sticks which is 1lb. or 2 cups. I ended up with about 1 3/4c of butter. My theories? The 1/4c is in the cheesecloth used for straining. Or maybe the 1/4c lost is due to water weight and the butter yielded is heavy rich butter cream. Or I could be completely wrong...these are just theories. Hope this is helpful!
