Canna brick buffer/charging help?

I got the name brand stuff but after charging and buffering I had ppm of around 800 from the second charge. I’ve grown my share but never hydro or coco so the Ppms is new to me. Used 1 tsp of GH calimagic for each gallon of reverse osmosis water. Just flushed 1 3 gallon smart pot of coco with straight RO water. It dropped it a couple hundred ppms. Did I over charge. What’s the ideal run off supposed to be for charging coco? Much thanks my ic peoples

Thanks dude, I still can’t find anywhere what the ppm of the run off should be from charging. Ended up flushing with RO water to get it down to 350 ppm. One plant is showing signs of something today. After transplant from the jiffy’s I watered around 600 ppm of GH and a little calimagic was this to much for 1 week seedlings

Did you wash the coir first? PPM before adding cal/mag? I wash coir until it matches the EC of the well water I use for most of the washing. Then I run some RO through it to get runoff in the teens. THEN I add cal/mag and usually some pH Down to get to 6.

I just put a tsp of cal/mag in a gallon of 0 ppm RO water. Not sure which ppm scale you're using, but I got and EC of .4, 200 on the 500 scale and 280 on the 700 scale. Either way, 800 seems way high. I use Canna bricks and wash it thoroughly before use. They claim a low starting EC, but I've never had a batch that matched the claim.

Canna Coco bricks come washed and pre buffered.

Just rehydrated new bricks of CANNA. Used zero ppm RO, enough to rehydrate and fully submerge the coir. Got an EC 0f .7, versus the .6 claimed. Close, but I have no idea what part of that is buffering and what is original salt. It's worth washing the coir down to near zero and buffering myself.

Here's my post on the issue;

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=365065

I've tested a few other brands since then (bagged, pre-washed and charged to .5ec - as stated on all the bags) and they all are the same 1.0 - 1.4 ec with "who know's what" inside.

I'm thinking they do a quick rinse to reach that claimed .5 ec, but with rest more salt leaches from inside of the coir and ec rises as the product reaches stores.

You’re over thinking things....
Currently I’m using Cyco Coco; I open the bag, fill my pot, thoroughly water through with the veg formula I use and don’t look back. Never an issue or deficiency.
I have used GH bloks, Botanicare bloks/bagged, Canna bloks/bags and now Cyco. No issues ever.
