Canfan question.

Hey yall, what is the little box on top of the fan and how come my 6" doesn't have it?

My guess is it's a junction box to connect the power cord. At least that's what it is on my Elicent and my S&P.

Thank you for the help. I guess the fan I have has the power cord wired right into the fan, it runs in where your junction box is.

I cant find a pic anywhere with a canfan that looks like mine. I just bought it so maybe thats how they make them now?

Am I better off, worse off or it doesnt matter?
Common sense tells me that I'm either better off or it doesnt matter but I dont know squat about electrical matters so...

It makes it harder to change your cord but, how often will you do that? My S&P has a speed option (100 or 135 cfm) and was delivered sans cord so an outside box makes sense.

It looks like there might be a speed controller knob on there too.
