Candied Cannabis Leaves...

I've been looking around for recipes, haven't found any. Seems like if you can make candied mint leaves that you could make candied cannabis leaves. They would be cool to have out at parties. I don't know if they would give a buzz, I doubt it, but I'm more interested in the visual appeal of little green sugary cannabis leaf treats.

Anybody got info?

You'd want "new" leaves to do this with, older & more mature leaves will probably be pretty fiberous.

Basic procedure for most candied leaves is to lightly brush the surface with egg white (meringue powder works great) and then coat with superfine sugar. Let air dry for a few days & you're set.

Bigger leaves may need a very light "press" to keep their shape as they dry, a few layers of wax paper generally has enough weight to accomplish this without distorting them too badly.

I'm doing a harvest in a few days, I'll see about a quick tutorial and we'll see how they turn out.

Alright Geo! Yeah, I was thinking that using the small, new leaves would be the way to go as well. They would be more tender, and also more in the size range of what a piece of candy would be as well.

If this works, you could decorate cakes with them, and that kind of thing.

I was also wondering about it the way candied orange peel and such are done. You start by boiling water, adding a large amount of granulated table sugar, stir until it is thoroughly mixed (there is a name for this concoction, can't remember it....), and then place the material that will get candied into the water/sugar concoction for a certain time, and the material absorbs the sugar from the water. You then take out the leaves, place them flat between wax paper, let 'em dry....

Can't wait to hear about your results. Wish I had some weed growing now so I could experiment right along with you.

I don't know about candied cannabis leaves but I have fried trim before and it's good strinkled on meals. You gently fry it until it turns light brown and crispy and use it as you would deep fried seaweed. It gets you high because the leaves have taken up some of the oil, which dissolves the cannabinoids and makes them bioavailable. The most valuable product though is the oil/butter that is left after the frying. It is simply the best quality cannabutter/oil that you can make in terms of taste and it can be added to recipes without it overpowering the flavor. A true connoisseur's ingredient.

You can preserve cannabis leaves by submerging them in a solution of glycerin (food grade), water and a little citric acid for a few days. The water in the cells is replaced by the glycerin and the foliage remains supple and life like for years. You can then rinse them in clean water and dry them off before brushing them with a sugar glaze.

Adding some green food colouring to the preserving solution may help them to retain a green colour. If that doesn't work then you can paint them at the end with edible paint. You could also add some cannabis tincture to the sugar glaze, or add the tincture to the preserving solution.

Glycerin is sweet and syrupy by the way, so you might not need to add a sugar glaze.
