if i grow in a hydrohut 4x4 with a can33 filter indoors will i need to exost out a window or will the air coming out smell fresh?
also does anyone els out there use the hydrohut4x4 i have some other q's

ya, that would be a good match. I did a can33 under 12 sq feet. there wont be any odors coming out the exhaust. Only a faint carbon smell when you put your nose up close.

I'd get the can33 IMO.

Hydro-hut or another of the tent manufacturers recommends 2 models of scrubbers for the huts. One is a 4in scrubber called the elf for the mini, or kindergarten tents they sell, and the 6in goblin for their larger models 4x4 and 4x8 hydro huts.

The 66 is a real hefty scrubber. I don't own a hut myself, and not sure exactly how sturdy they are made, but the 66 holds a good 50-60lbs of carbon, which is close to double the amount/weight of the 33 at 25-30lbs of carbon.. The 33 is already larger then the unit they recommend for the larger huts which only holds 10-15lbs of carbon.. So the 33 would be adequate IMO in the hut, and you'd probably have no problem getting them to go the full 12-16 months before refill.

This store carries the goblin model if you'd like to check out the specs on it, but for sure I'd go with the 33 rather then the goblin. The 66 is probably a lil overkill. I wouldn't get that unless you know you'll be looking to expand in the very near future :)

The HydroHut "Goblin" and "Elf" filters have much less carbon than the Can-33, and are much lighter overall.

I have a Can-33 mounted on one side of my HomeBox XL (47" x 47" vs 52" x 52" of the HydroHut), and when I have my zippers open the tent is twisted / skewed a bit.

Does a good job of removing smell, but I wouldn't really know since my sense of smell is pretty bad. I got this primarily to keep my apartment neighbors from complaining too much about the smell of weed smoke in the hallway... I personally can't smell much, or any, after smoking even without a filter, but I haven't heard any of the "daaaamn it smells like some good weed" comments from the hallway. Either that, or they've gotten used to it and don't comment on it anymore, I don't know.

I personally don't mind any neighbors knowing about my smoking, just wanted to prevent any chance of complaints going to the landlord. But I live in Cali, so it isn't that big a deal. But thinking in hindsight, the smell of fresh, growing weed is quite different than the smell of weed smoke. Just hope no one has caught on to that.

Clowntown, so even the lighter can33's will sag the tent a bit huh? I was really thinking about picking one of these up, and was really wondering how they held up to a proper scrubber, and light equipment hanging in them.

There are a few threads on here solely for those using these grow tents, and many on their set-up.. I still have not read much into those threads yet, but I'd think with some of the ingenuity and great minds found on this site, someone found a way to tweak these set-ups to perfection LOL.. Maybe not even hanging the filter but getting one you can push through, and mounting it on the back, or simply making a shelf in the back for it to sit on. I know some filters are designed to where you are able to both push/pull air through them.

The goblin weighs 15lbs it says, and I guess that's why they designed them so much lighter... They need to be replaced every 6-8 months per specs though.. Which is pretty damn expensive considering they are no cheaper then the 33's which go 12 months per specs. The goblin is not designed to be refilled either... Meaning every time you need a new filter you must purchase the whole darn thing.. That is if their is no way to do a diy re-refill, but still not designed to be refilled...

Maybe an odor sok would be a good alternative in these tents. I mean they weigh a few pounds at the most, and last up to 12 months per specs..A good bit cheaper then the equal diameter can filter. Any one have any opinions, or better yet experience with these?

Yup... these things are pretty heavy. I'd guess it weighs a good 30 pounds, if not more. I'm sure you can pull up the numbers through Can-Fan's website, but yeah it's definitely not light. I wouldn't even want to TRY a Can-66 on the ceiling of a HydroHut/HomeBox... that's just asking for trouble.

The Can-33 is basically a Can-66 cut in half, length-wise. It has the same carbon bed depth, diameter, etc... just double the length and double the amount of carbon. Only differences.

Yup you can push or pull, and yeah hanging them on the ceiling is probably one of the worst ways to mount them. I've seen others who have built small shelves for it to sit on, etc, and I had planned on doing the same. "...but then I got high" and simply strapped it to the scrubber rails that came with the HomeBox. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else, though, as it skews the tent with the zipper open and that can't be a good thing (puts unnecessary stress on the zippers, poles, etc).

Yup you pretty much nailed it. Many brands and models went into consideration when I was shopping for a scrubber, and the Can-33 fit the bill because of the price / performance combination best for the most part. I actually think the 33 is a bit too much for a 4x4 application, but it doesn't cost much more to oversize so why not.

I thought about that, but I'm still extremely skeptical about these Odor Sok's. I'm still waiting for more guineapigs to test them out and see how they compare in the long run. I'm thinking they can't be anywhere near as good as they want you to believe, but I guess we'll see.

I'm running one of the "Elf" carbon filters with a 4" vortex in a Hydrohut Mini. Have yet to have an odor issue. The vortex is also on a speed control which makes things realllll easy.

do u think it would be good to use 3 gallon pots 9 under 600watts? or sohuld i go with 5gallon (anyone know how much cubic feet of soil they old) thats one of the only tings i m worried about right now is being able to buy enough soil b 4 winter hits...

(o are can33 refillable?or do i need to buy another 1 every year for 100$?) :joint:

I'd stick with useing the 3 gallon pots if your planning on vegging your plants for only a month or so. If your planning on growing some monster plants that have been veg'd longer then go with the 5 gallon. I also have the goblin carbon scrubber and haven't noticed any smell at all and i've been using it for almost a year now, so the can33 should be more than enough for your setup. Good luck with your grow man. Peace out.

odor soks suck . dont waste your money because you will be switching to something else at week 6 of flowering like I did. As of now I only use a vaportek wall unit. you can put up to 5 disks at once but only 2 is needed. the neutral has a faint smell of the bubble gum that comes in the baseball cards works very well

i have the can50s with the 6" high output fan. I have used the can33 with a 400 watt grow in a c13 and it did fine. I decided with my 600 watters I would step both the fan and the filter up. Always better to overprepare imo. I also have the vaportek optimum 4000 for any air that might get out of the cabs when opening up. People go to jail for smell and that is not something im risking. Vaportronics in other parts of house. Done!

Do you guys think a can 66 and a 420 cfm fan would be a good match for a 160 cubic foot space? Thats like 2.5 air exchanges per minute. I hope that works nicely for me. Ill step it up if you think its not enough.
