plant is young it's only about 3 weeks old, but I've been giving it 150W MH, 24-0 and I'm wanting to switch to 18-6, will there be any problem with the plant? will it slow down growth or mess up the plant?

Thats what I do I start my seedlings under 24 hrs of flos for about 2 weeks of 24/0 then when they are large enough I put them in my veg room which the lights run on 18/6. I have not had any problems.

since this plant is young, is it ok to turn everything off including fans during those 6 hrs.? I want to keep everything off during those hours until I can get a duct muffler which might not be until next week

abc, having no airflow during lights off in vegg is fine. You need to definetely have airflow at night during flowering to prevent mold but it is not essential in vegg.

this is kinda dumb, but I was wondering, do you have to have 18-6 at the same time every day? what if you switch it around, for example: on weekdays 18-6 during weekdays with 6 hrs. off in the morning, and then change it on the weekends to 6 hrs. off at night. would that mess the plants up?

I would leave the exhuast fan on at all times 24 hours a day 7 days a week.Humdity can climb fast in closet or cab when there is no air being exhuasted and the soil has moisture and the plants are transpiring.

Sure go ahead and reduce to 18on/6off,no problems.

Have you gotten your temps in control yet?

no, I still don't have temps in control I'm thinking of geting a 465cfm active air fan, and putting that in my closet, there is a special onilne for $65, but is that going to be loud? it might be my only option even if it's loud. I bought a 7" osciliating fan for inside the cab, and a 16" osciliatting fan for the closet but it doesn't really effect temperatures.

I've never tried switching the period of darkness once I set it. My gut feeling is that it is NOT a good idea to switch the period of darkness on weekends.
There was a rather interesting article at OG about a rather complicated light schedule which created 8 days a week or somesuch thing to increase yields but it was complicated and you definately needed a programable switch.
And it wasn't practical.

Now it is possible to gradually switch your dark period. Just deciding that tomorrow I'll give it an extra 6 hours darkness then followed by a day of 24 hours lights on is not the same thing, but hey give it a try.

Good Luck

I never use 24. Mother nature doesn't so neigther will I. I stick to 18/6 no matter what. Then switch to 12/12 whenever I feel like it.
