Can you keep clones as clones indefinitely?

I am a new grower (canna coco) and am about to take my first clones of Big Bug. I have also ordered some other strains as seeds online from a seed bank. I was wondering if it was possible to preserve my Big Bud genetics as clones while I grow some of these other strains from seed? This would essentially require that I keep the Big Bud clones in a vegetative state for the entire period the other strains are growing. Is this possible? Will I just need to keep them under 24hr lights and constantly trim them back to small bushes or is there another method?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

It is entirely possible..if you are dedicated and skilled at taking cuts... You can go clone from clone from clone for years. Keep mother's until your skilled enough and can manage your time. I would recommend keeping your mothers on 16/8 and never let them become rootbound. Many strains have a tendency to auto flower if kept too long in same container. I have one strain that Ive been running clone from clone for 13yrs..its approx 80 clone generations away from the original seedplant. Always 'Farm' your cuts out too other responsible growers/friends as back up. And never ever bring back cuts before thourgly inspecting and disinfecting!!! Powdery Mildew can be devastating!!! And always back up your strains by making Seeds when possible. Good Luck..

Yah, you can clone plants in a string indefinitely. You can also keep mothers alive indefinitely, but it takes some work as they mature. I have re-flowered/re-vegged some plants for 5 or 6 cycles. The stems get weird after a few years though, and they get root bound. Stem rot can also become a problem with the end cuts.

The answer for powdery mildew is 1:100 mixed Neem oil to water. It will kill PW within 24-48 hours. It is also organic and not harmful to beneficials, and it will kill mites on contact. It is also not toxic to humans. I swear by that stuff, and I could not grow weed here without it.

I asked myself that this year with my GDP this year, a daughter of Big Bud. I think its the grape taste. Damn thing is the most susceptible strain to powdery mildew in my current live plant collection. Is Big Bud that way? Or did that trait come from Poiple Oikle?
