say one grows in a closet. is it ok to have the carbon filter/inline fan inside the closet or do you need to have it setup externally? will it still do the trick?
Do you have anywhere to exhaust the air? If the filter is inside the grow area the air would need to be pulled through it, as opposed to having it outside the area when the air has to be pushed through it. I believe it's better to be pulling air through it but I'm not positive. If you can duct the exhaust into an attic or somewhere then that'd be fine.
I run a carbon scrubber in room with great success, you don't need to vent externally. Yes it is better to pull air through the filter, rather than push.
I am pretty sure if you push air in it doesn't get prefiltered, and you might have some dust buildup. At least the prefilter on my scrubber was on the outside so you have to pull air in through it. Put a filter on your intake to help keep the dust out.
whetehr its push or pull i think the main thing is making sure 100% of the air going outside goes thru the carbon...gotta be perfectly sealed bwteen the filter and the fan either way, cuz you got negative pressure in the duct trying to suck stinky air thru any leaks to mix with the clean air (in the case of pulling thru fulter inside the room), or positive pressure trying to push stinky air out any leaks outside the room before the filter. assuming ya got plenty of room in closet i think best put all the equipment in there for easy access and duct the filtered air out to wherever, the "pulling" setup. hope it helps...just a noob with one diy carbon filter built and working
