Can you do this with coco?

I am new to growing. I am looking at the 32x32 tent with the kingbrite 240w quantum board with 2-3 plants in coco coir in 3 gallon fabric pots. I am looking at the blumat watering system on there for it.

Would it be possible to use the blumat watering system with only regular water to water the plants then top feed with liquid nutrients in water to runoff like 1 or 2 times per week on there for it?

Hi The123321

check Cmoon, he is a boss with blumats in coco and a very nice guy, will answer many questions with pleasure for sure.
See ya'.

Thanks. I think it would be nice to be able to only run water through the blumats then top feed nutrients a few times per week. I will look the cmoon up on there for it.

Why?
Coco is a form of Hydro, feed solution to runoff with each irrigation cycle.
Never plain water, NEVER.
Sounds like you have made up you mind though, so good luck.

Thanks. I was wondering why that would not work. I now think I will try hand watering with the nutrients like recommended on there for it.

Just this guy, ya know?
I think the main issue is if you just run plain water through, it will be picking up and carrying away some of the nutrients in the coco, like you will be flushing it instead of adding to it. If you can do more, smaller waterings during the day they seem to prefer that to just one big one, at least that was my experience running coco for a few grows.

Thanks. The main one reason I was trying to figure out if you can feed it water only is I was looking at the blumats but due to having plants that were planted at different times the plants likely have different nutrient needs which would mean I would likely need more than 1 reservoir and the 32x32 tent does not have enough room really do to 3 plants in 3 gallon pots plus 2 5 gallon buckets for the reservoir for the blumats on there for it.

Do you know if there are any nutrient lines that you can do the same amount of the nutrient for every part of the grow where the level of the nutrient stays the same for the whole grow for it? Then I could use one reservoir to feed plants that were planted at different times on there for it.

I have not used it but may in the future when I run out of canna products.
People say it is a one part product.

Read the “H3Ad goes coco” sticky in this section. Hand water through veg, set up a full strength res and adjust the ratio with some fresh water as needed for each plant. Drippers with full strength in flower and hand water in any PK booster based on the week. I’ve found dumping the micro right at the end is fine, hand water the flush week.
There’s also the K.I.S.S. thread as well, GH Maxibloom the whole run.

You’re going to be sacrificing something any way you roll the dice if you use the same concentration of the same nutrients through the entire cycle of a soilless/hydro/coco grow.

Go with a good organic soil mix (a lot of them contain 25-50% coco coir). Then you can use your Blumats with water only and if you feel the need to supplement as you’ve stated, you can always hand water in whatever nutrients you decide; the Blumats will compensate automatically, so no need to adjust. I have pondered doing the same if and when I ever take the dive into organics.

One of the guys @ Sustainable Village referenced creating/utilizing a “nutrient well”, where one would make a small crater and place their amendments directly under the drip point of the Blumat. I could see it working, but I don’t see it being practical on so many levels.

You can use Jacks 321 for the whole grow without changing the ratios/formula. I've seen people like Megacrop too, I think it works the same way. But I agree with others that you need to feed every time when using coco. I use blumats with Canna A+B or Jacks 321 in coco.. make sure you add some sort of cleaning enzymes to your res to avoid your lines getting clogged.

Thanks. I will look for the threads you listed. I do not want to do soil as I want to keep the pest problem risks low on there for it. The jacks 321 looks like it is a lot of different things mixed is that right? I am looking at the canna a+b. Do you know of a way to use the canna a+b in the same one level for the whole grow or do you do different levels of it for different parts of the grow on there for it?
