Can you breed Autoflowering out of an Auto hybrid? what would be the best technique?

If you have an autoflowering version of a strain and for example, you make F2s can you find phenos that don't Autoflower assuming half or more of the strains chromosomes came from photo period dependant ancestors. Then back cross repeatedly the future progeny to the ones that don't auto flower in order to remove this trait?

auto x auto = auto, answer is no
better to search the original photoperiodic that was used to make that auto line

It depends how stable your Auto strain is. If some plants aren't Autos show up.
Then reverse this breeding program and keep selecting until you get there.

Exactly cuz that doesnt mean that every chromosome now has autofloweing genes. I don't see why there wouldn't be individuals in later generations where some would miss out on the chromosome with auto genes and only recieve NL or LIke 75% NL then cross those together and find one with even more NL Dom until it stops autoflowering.
What about an s1, s1 cleaves off genes in favor of homozygousity/genetic redundancy. Can't you make S1s, then pick NL Dom phenos, then make S2s, pick NL Dom again then open pollinate, then kill any remaining autos and be left with only NL chromosomes?

ive read somewhere that thats how they create "fast" versions.
that they
breed an auto against a non auto of the same strain and then the offspring should be earlier and shorter flowering than the regular version, but still not auto, unless you breed an auto against an auto

When it comes to chasing rare traits in a strain numbers come into play big time.
I created a strain using a fast flowering normal strain and a real long flowering
real Colombian Gold. In the F2 generation, only 1 male was flowering early
enough to be used outdoors. This was a guerilla row with over 120 (F2) plants.

Then again, it may just be easier in your case to breed like in the pic
I posted and just select the slower flowering plants. Will take several
generations of selecting breeding regardless how you do it.

i.e. Your Auto X Normal strain.

Good Luck

Don't breed with autos at all.

Eventually they'll be wiped out...
Autos are cool for the spring. Then no light dep. needed. They have alot of good ones now, only trick is getting them to be mostly all high quality so that it isn't a waist of space because you can't really keep clones. Wonder if you can tissue culture them?

Those might be the types they call Photos?
no, "fast" versions are faster flowering versions of often normal strains.
Lets say most Cheese strains flower in 9 weeks but theres also "fast" versions that will flower in 6-8 weeks, but they are not auto flowers, although its said that they are often created by mixing auto flowers into the mix

Usually the faster the strain flowers the shorter the high lasts. Therefore IMO longer flowering strains have far greater inherent value and the market should be forced to reflect that. Driving a hard bargain isn't easy these days but long flowering sativa should eventually become available at a higher price point.

Don't tell the woke that. I'm hoping they sleep straight through it.

The auto's parents are what you want. The auto bit, wasn't the good bit anyway. Though if the auto is random bag, then guessing a single parent to back cross with, could be useful. You might only need to do it once, to then find photo's in the seed.

It's all quite logical.

I just planted 2 Auto Fem's yesterday.

They were Freebies but I have to admit, if they're done in 3 months they will be welcome Fresh Weed.
