Can Winged Aphids Fly in My Home Thru the Window Screen eventually reaching my indoor garden...? I think so.... I just saw a winged aphid and a fungus gnat trapped between my window and screen a few days ago....leading to the question of how they became trapped in there. My thought is they squeezed in between the wires of the screen, and either decided to stay, or couldn't find their ways back out. As I sat there watching them fly around in the 2" space between glass and screen, I noticed a small jumping spider had come to collect them. Sooo cool. The spider uses the "trap" as his hunting ground. This kinda freaks me out because it alerts me that these insects regularly show up there. All it takes to free them into my home is to open said window. SCARY!!! Maybe this is why I've had root aphids 3x in the last 6 years. At least I think so. At least I now have some closure as to perhaps how it kept happening August after August.
This is probably why camping tents have a smaller tighter screen, capable of keeping out no see ums and ticks (and winged aphids).
Scary shit, now time to get out the essential oils and coat my window sills...I have found insects hate the 'smell' of cinnamon oil.
Best of luck to all my IC Mag fam on prevention this summer!
....any thoughts on this....
