It is now 150k or so since the site upgrades.. To my knowledge, there was no file size limit in the past, so long as your image was within the resolution limit.
This new file size limit forces everyone to use a great deal of compression, like a 45-35% quality setting or less in most cases (in Photoshop "Save to web".)
I'm aware some people cannot tell the difference between a JPEG compressed to 150k and the original photo, but for those who compress images regularly or do a lot of photography, the loss of detail can be quite noticeable, and the artifacts in an overly compressed image tend to jump right out.
Could this can be changed to a more reasonable size? Even 250-300k would give a lot more breathing room to maintain detail and still use a fair amount of compression.
Thanks!
