Can Ona gel affect the smell or taste of the end result?

I'm very curious about this ONA GEL; it seems to be more effective than standard filters, can someone confirm this? How long does this stuff last for? Might it be toxic if brehated for long periods, or affect something else in the room? Thamk you in advance.

I'm on my first grow and have been using ona blocks the whole way through and I've found them very efficient. I'm growing 5 plants of a smelly skunk strain and I found the ona block completely nuetralises the smell from the growroom. There isn't a strong odour from the blocks themselves after the first day or two you open it, so I very much doubt it affects the smell/taste of the plant. When my first ona block got used up after about two months the smell of the plants started coming back and they stunk! So the block didn't affect them at all, and it was in the middle of the five plants the whole time. I put a new one in since and it's killed the weed smell again.

I would highly recommend them or the gel if you're not in a position to install a carbon filter.

Thanks Shotgun321 and Hempguy.

I did some searching and reading on Rez's Help Desk, and found several threads that referenced Ona, and see that he reccomends putting it outside the room, however I do not see anywhere that he says why.

Does anyone know if the stuff will contribute to taste or smell if used in the same room?

I apologize if I am being dense, I have searched and read a ton of threads. I just havent found the answer.

Thanks in advanced!

Hi sorry I wasn't clearer above. When I took the ona blocks out of the room and had no odour control (after having ona in the room for two months), the smell of the weed was just as strong and pungent as it would otherwise be. The ona didn't affect the smell of it at all. I haven't sampled the goods yet as I still have a few weeks to go so I can't say if it affects the taste or not but really highly doubt it. It's an odour nuetralizer, it doesn't do anything to the plants unless you actually apply it onto the plant. which I wouldn't advise.

Thanks Shotgun. I did understand what you were saying and that is helpful. I was curious however about cured product after having it in the grow room. I would like to know if people can tell if on a was present in the grow when using the meds.

plants cant absorb the ona particles that we smell. despite popular folklore, ONA will not affect the smell or taste of your finished product. since its comprised of natural oils, its non toxic to plants- period.

a few years ago, somone mentioned his grow tasted like the scent, but thats unfounded. upon discovering ONA and VAPORTEK, i ditched my carbon scrubber years ago and havent looked back. anyone who says these 2 odor neutralizers arent as effective as a carbon scrubber either havent tried them or are basing their opinions on heresay.

ONA PRO is something to behold. not only does it neutralize the odor, it doesnt have a suspicious smell itself. i place 1 can and 1 vaportek disc in my grow room, change them out every 2 weeks, odor problem solved like crossword puzzle.

Hey imadoofus, I use Ona Blocks too but cant imagine taking down my carbon filter. Seems crazy to me. If it works for you tho, fair play.

i use ona pro AND vaportek disc. i cut the vaportek disc into pieces and put them into the old ona containers with holes drilled into the lids. if youve never tried it, give it a chance and release the shackles of your scrubber into the oblivion of enlightenment ; )

I don't know, but I sure hope not ...

I am in the process of designing a new grow closet. A few of the cannabis cultivars I have decided to grow are quite skunky. My odor control system will consist of one CD ozone generator (3 cell Uvonair) AND an AC filter, WITH an Ona Pro bucket & fan as an emergency back-up, in case electrical power is lost for an hour or more. It will be running off of a 1500 VA UPS, on a timer.

I have opened up the Ona Pro bucket briefly, and I can tell you that it has a smell most reminiscent of a urinal cake. I have no doubt that it will obscure any other odor in the room.

If placed in the same room, will ona gel affect the smell or taste or the end result?

Ona blocks are small miracles.....expensive, but miraculous just the same.

No. Ona products are smell absorbers. They do not give off any fragrance or scents to "mask" the smell.

Funny story. Got off at an off ramp then back on the on ramp. Stopped on the shoulder to spark a :joint:. About to pull away and highway patrol rolls up. (yes i know how bad of an idea that was) !@#$. a quick uncap of the little jar of ona gel, joint gets on the floorboard some how. roll up window a bit. meet and greet. explain I wanted to follow the no cell phone driving law and pulled over at a safe spot. A small cloud of smoke gets sucked out. "no officer there is absolutely no mj in this vehicle, am I free to go?" "There is a strong odor of mj coming from your vehicle" "I dunno officer maybe you are smelling this" Grab the little jar and kinda show him. "Its a air freshner see?" have to explain what it is "Well I dont smell it anymore so I guess you can go" "Am I free to go?" "Yes" "Bye thank you!"

ona works wonders, I have used it for years and it has never affect the smell or taste of my bud. Close call raphenilweed, I'm going to have to carry some around in my ride too now :) thanks for the info!

thats hilarious regarding the ONA and cop encounter. always carried a vaportek disc in a old ONA can when road tripping long jaunts hunting surf with friends, covers the smell from blunts and beer/alcohol nicely...found the ONA itself a bit 'overwhelming' in tight confines as a suv.

you sure ona doesnt give off a fragrance ?? it may have odor absorbing qualities, but it certainly has a strong smell under my nose...
