Can my plant make it??

So guys looking for some answers here.

I have a small little plant with genetics I cant really just get again.
Had a transportation accident and snapped and tore the stem..
Rushed home razor blade rooting hormones and domed the little one..
Now I have two ends, one rooted with a cotyledon that is shrivelling up fast the other about 3 nodes of baby leaves.

The plant snapped exactly between the 1st set on leaves and the cotyledon.

My questions are,

1) Can a plant grow new stems from the cotyledon?
2) What are the odds either end off the plant will come back?
3) Dose any of this show any hope in survival?

Background and info below...

This happened about 3 days ago..

I am basically running the cloning process on the snapped top.
Conditions seem good 78F , 80% humidity misting ect...

The topped part looks good on top nice and green has not sagged or drooped, I caught the leaf on my finger and the plant lifted out the jiffy so took a moment to snap a pic of the base. Seems to be shrunk by the cut and slightly swollen little bit lighter then the avg green.

The base is sitting in the window out of direct sun, cotyledon dried out fast.. but stem is green and chilling.

Check the pics and tell me what you guys think, as per my questions.

Base is done for. Top might grow roots in peat puck but honestly you should start new seed. It will be much faster then waiting to see if top possibly will root.

I'm not so much worried about saving time, These Genetics I cant just get again.. Ill wait months need be to resurrect this one. I'm More concerned with the over all health currently and if sustained can it make a come back?

I don't have any cloning exp. So not sure as to what could happen here as I have read lot's of conflicting threads on the process. Some say swelling is good its roots , others its air trapped inside make a new cut higher ect...

I'm really looking for the best course of action to try save it for my strain collection.

Well put some cloning gel on the stem and put in jiffy puck. put in clear Tupperware with a moist paper towel next to the clone. seal it up. put florescent light over it. small desk lamp will do. open couple times a day for air exchange. Don't cut it higher since there's not much there. takes 1-3 weeks to root. Not all clones will root but these steps will increase your chances.

If you cant afford Tupperware or don't have any around. put in bowl and use plastic wrap. make sure Tupperware is clear.

Ok thats pretty much what I did.

Its been 6 days no signs of drooping however the last three day something has been happing inside.
I had two days opening the dome and getting a strong green smell, Yesterday no smell but in the space of about 18 hours some drastic changes.

The plants gone lime green all over the middle is still green, and the stems have turned mostly purple.
Not sure what to make of that...?

Keep the light on 24hrs a day(less then this can yellow clones). Clones do yellow a bit from 1.too much light(light too close to plant) 2.too little of light(light not close enough) 3. too much heat.
Another possiblility is it rooted and needs some nutes.(1/4 strength or .3ec or 300ppm)

Peat pucks/pods notoriously dense and needs rinsing/wringing out for being acidic for clones. It also doesn't allow enough oxygen to the roots when the cutting first takes, oxygen being critical for normal growth.

When I clone, I prefer sand or rock wool cubes (again saturated and rinsed).

So been away, here is the update chaps.

The Base as LC called it, passed away on about day 7.
(wont post pic's, green stem flat and mushy on top of soil. Came home and it had fallen.)

The Top however has been a very interesting.

So after the lime green the plant followed on using nutes from the leaves till turning mostly yellow. The growth tips however have all remained green, and this was in limbo a little while. Then the 1st yellow leaf started to curl up and give up on life. Seeing the browning starting and some fluff on the leaf I trimmed it in half till that part browned too then clipped it off.

The last two days all the nodes have exploded with green small baby leaves.
Did my best to get a pic of the nodes, cam auto focus was struggling..

Considering that the broken stem had like 2 mm that could be placed into the puck it is safe to say the plant is not sitting very snug. With this in mind I did take my finger yesterday and catch the leaf in up direction to see if it would lift out.. It would seem I had some resistance allowing the stem a small wobble but not to be lifted out. It was not a tug tug just running my finger past the leaves letting them catch.

With the current developments I think we will either see death or life in the next few days. So fingers crossed.

Thanks for coping with all my Typos guys!!
