Well I had to try to kill these bastards that I am growing fungus gnats or whudever

does sm-90 kill the BT in gnatrol? I'm not using it together.

can i hurt my plants with gnatrol? it looks pretty dark in the res! :chin:

I have sticky traps covered in gnats also I tried those first with sm-90 that would not kill them so i had to try gnatrol

I hope it works!!!!!

i haven't noticed a difference w/ the gnatrol in the water.
i blew thru a whole gallon of this stuff and it barely slowed down the problem.
i will be trying a different product this time around.
oh and you're right, this stuff does stink pretty bad.

How much Gnatrol did you use per gallon?

well I filled up the whole 2 teaspoon dropper so I did probally 8-9 teaspoons per 7 or so gallons o water in my vegg setup

I did 15 draws per like 20 gallons of water I think(I dont measure well really) so thats like maybe 35 teaspoons in the flower setup with 3 plants now

thanks!

I guess I will check tomorrow to see if the plants look like they grew any

I can always flush if I have to, but I guess maybe its just supposta stink and look pretty brown?

peace

I use knock put gnats (also bti). I don't think there is a need to go over the heavy infestation level of 3-4 tsp per gallon. Also don't violently shake the product as you may be tempted to do. Think gently mixing by turning slow and uprighting/overturning or rolling so as not to really agitate the structures.
Peace.

Oh one more thing....TIMING IS EVERYTHING or you will NOT have good results

Using stickys to eliminate the fliers is good but you need to time the app of the bti to their larvae cycle or your just pouring the stuff down the drain.

Best O Luck!!

The recommended dosage for a "heavy infestation" is 4-8 tsp per gallon, so I really don't think you've OD'd em on it...it's naturally a pretty thick greyish cream anyhow, so I'll bet that's all that you're seeing.

After 24 hours of usage, all the gnats should be dead so if it's bugging you, it won't be a problem to change out the res...but it won't hurt anything if it stays in there.

yes Sm90 can kill of the bti and the residual sm90 on/in your medium and res may have weakened or killed your bti application and THAT would also cause much stinkage. H202 also wacks the friendly bactors in bti rendering it useless too.

No, you cant harm the plants with bti.

Really gnatrol isnt that bad smelling at all, unless its an old bottle or one thats gone bad and dead from being sealed up and stored at too high a temperature, then it would smell very foul like fish emulsion. This is why the dry inactive form of bti, like misquito dunks is preferred over gnatrol or vectobac liquids.

If you have a severe infestation thats gone out of control, then you will have alot of god awful looking plant disease happening and root rot & decay is going to make that reservoir smell to high heaven too.

So imho, its pretty hard to say if your res is stinking up the joint because of the heavy dose of old gnatrol you used, or if its also the root systemsgoing down the crapper.
You need to inspect the roots for the usual slimey decaying nasties to get a definitive answer for that one. Also, have the gnats died off or are they still reaking havok?

If the roots look good and the plants arent suffering badly yet, I'd be inclined to change out the res and get some fresh bti, preferrably the dry powder or misquito dunks and try the treatment again.

some pictures would really be handy here.
Include roots pictures too if possible.

whats up guys, I checked the plants this morning and they are super a ok, I was just scared with how dark my water was i guess, it was really dark, I haven't check the darkness again yet

well the plants are growing I hope this stuff kills the gnats

10k the roots are fine, normal growth but my last harvest may have suffered because the plants seemed to fall over sooner from the weight of the buds, still had a great harvest though even with bugs the whole time

peace

thanks for all the help guys!

I'll do an update next res change or something I hope they are dead by then might take a few weeks?
